Lighthearted thread! Clothes shopping has become a PITA! Shakes fist at Covid!

Lighthearted thread as I know Covid has brought serious heartache to thousands of people and my heart really does go out to all effected.

Just throwing this out there though!

I can try on shoes but can’t try on trousers or skirts. Tops I absolutely understand, especially ones you have to put over your head but why not the bottom half? Why not button up tops? Why not coats and jackets? Have read (albeit briefly) that Covid does not survive well on soft surfaces, so I’m more likely to pick up a can of beans, that a previous shopper decided they didn’t want, and possibly come into contact with Covid than on a soft T-shirt? Actually more likely to come into contact trying on shoes due to the hard surface!

Won’t more and more people shop online rather than the high street, as it’s such a massive inconvenience returning everything, then Sale items are only given a 14 day return window. Will this be the end of many high street clothes shops?

The only shops I have tried are M&S and Asda, are all shops adopting this approach?

Again, this is lighthearted. Just wondered how you all felt about it! I did have success yesterday though, returned a top to M&S and managed to buy 3 T-shirts, which when tried on at home, actually fit! The dresses though have all gone back!

It's even worse if you live in Ireland and order from UK stores- the exchange rate will, invariably, be dire and the cost of postage to Ireland is exorbitant. There are no free returns. 😟

I don't get it either. I needed new jeans, had to buy quite a few different pairs as had no idea on sizing as trying a different shop.
Took them home, tried them on, none fit so had to take them all back. Refund was done no problem.

I am a dissenting voice in that if it makes people wear clothes until they are unable to be worn, instead of fast fashion, not a bad thing for the planet.

It is a pain.
For example in H&m the clothes I already own from there are in 4 different sizes so I could be 4 different sizes in each item!
When I buy clothes the vast majority her taken back
However I am a person who doesn't shop online for clothes and I find it more of a faff online as I've no idea online either so I do still prefer to shop where I can see the clothes.
But then again I'm lucky cos I can walk into town

@tiredanddangerous, try Sloggi Zero Feel (on Amazon) for your DD. I'm very flat chested for a grown woman and they are one piece and seem to mould to your shape really well. Cheap too!

I also need new work trousers and this is really difficult. In the past I've had success with Dorothy Perkins and so I ordered 2 pairs online. I still have one pair from there in a size slightly too big but I remember they have run small before so I ordered the same size. One pair was canceled and the other were so tiny I couldn't zip them. And the same brand remember the same size is also too big on me! Plus they do not take online returns in-store which was annoying too.

Literally not one shop in my city has fitting rooms open and online shopping is terrible so I don't really know where to go from here.

This makes me miserable too because I am such a weird shape that if I buy clothes online, I'll have to return most of them. So I have always shopped in the high street where I can try before I buy. Now - not a chance. What makes me so frustrated is that there's no logic to it - this isn't going to contribute in any way to helping stop the spread of the virus. All it's going to do is speed up the death of the high street.

I am SO over these measures that have been put in place "so it looks as if we are Doing Something" rather than "because these have been scientifically proven to lessen the spread of the virus".

@tiredanddangerous

It's a huge pain. My 12 year old badly needs new bras but I have absolutely no idea what size she is now. Our only option would be to buy loads online and return what doesn't fit. It'll be a long process though because she must have tried at least 10 bras on the last time and I can't afford to buy 10 bras at once.
Use the MN/Boob or bust method, then buy online from Brastop. Smile
