Unscented sanitary towels

Thisisnotataste · 14/08/2020 23:23

its been nearly 2 years since I had a period so I'm obviously behind but wtf is with overpowering scented sanitary towels? I can smell them before I've even opened the packet. Why do I want to smell like sanitary towel?!
Any suggestions for ones that don't remind me all day, with little wafts of scent, that I'm bleeding out of my vagina? (As if I need an extra reminder?)

morrisons own brand arent scented

dwiz8 · 14/08/2020 23:24

AFAIK most are unscented. For me when shopping scented isn't the norm. I use the little pink always ones (cotton in the name)

Merename · 14/08/2020 23:25

Oh I feel you. Horrible. Bodyform seem to be fine.

AnneLovesGilbert · 14/08/2020 23:26

Morrison’s own brand are good. Or get some reusable washable ones. Pretty, comfy, scent less, bit like wearing velvet knickers. Pay for themselves quickly.

Crabbo · 14/08/2020 23:26

Reusable ones. I haven’t actually tried them but people say they are much more comfortable. Personally I switched to the pants and they are amazing.

Merename · 14/08/2020 23:26

But I’d recommend giving a menstrual cup a go - amazing.

maggiecate · 14/08/2020 23:28

Lille’s aren’t scented although can be tricky to find. You can order from boots

Pinkbunny2811 · 14/08/2020 23:31

I can't help with the scent but highly recommend a menstrual cup :)

NannyR · 14/08/2020 23:32

Reusable ones - more comfortable and less leaks than disposables, better for the environment and more economical and not much hassle washing them. I use imse vimse pads, earthwise girls has a good selection of different brands.

AdoptAdaptImprove · 14/08/2020 23:32

Bodyform aren’t scented. I hate scented ones too, and have found I hard to get towels which are both effective and don’t smell.

MrsSlocombesPussy · 14/08/2020 23:32

I go for organic brands now, also Kotex. Not only the scent bothers me, but the plasticky feel of the top of the towel. A very irritating combination, literally.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 14/08/2020 23:33

Bodyform. I've used always for years (changed from Bodyform as a teen)
Since they started making scented pads I had an itchy fanjo every month. Recently switched back to Bodyform and no more sore itchiness!

I do have mooncup in the cupboard but have always been too scared to use it Hmm. I've looked way reusable pads but the choice is overwhelming! Can anyone recommend which ones would be best for someone who is obese and has very heavy periods? (I usually use the extra long pads, and sometimes need 2 of them offset against each other to be long enough)

IncyWincyGrownUp · 14/08/2020 23:36

Be careful with Bodyform, some of their are now scented.

We usually go with supermarket own brand, although Aldi have added a scent to their towels recently.

I find the slimline Kotex hard to find, but they used to be the best for me as they were less plastic feeling. Small, local pharmacies were where I used to buy them.

BashfulClam · 14/08/2020 23:38

Body form, the purple packet which are nighttime ones. Really long and have wings.

PickAChew · 14/08/2020 23:38

Cheap kotex from pound land or savers.

ZZGirl · 14/08/2020 23:49

Consider reusable ones or even period pants

JustMeAndMyTins · 14/08/2020 23:59

Are you outside the UK by any chance? It’s rare to encounter scented ones here but not in some other European countries. You haven’t picked up the other kind of pads by accident, have you? Grin

LemonadeFromLemons · 15/08/2020 00:03

Asda own brand are my personal favourite. I was once caught short at work and asked a very close male colleague to pick me some sanitary towels on his break. Poor bloke was dispatched to Superdrug with instructions to sniff each brand to ensure he didn’t buy me scented 😂
