To wonder why appointments at this gp surgery are always gp

Are always with gp registrars rather than with the other gp’s. When me or one of my sons has had an appointment at our new gp surgery we’ve been registered there a year now. It’s always with a gp registrar. Aibu to be curious why they never book appointments with the other gp’s at the surgery. It’s small surgery with three doctors if that makes a difference.

GP registrars are not known to regular patients so don't get booked up as quickly. They usually have longer slots and tend to be more thorough. A GP registrar saved more DDs life as a baby - he trusted his gut and referred her to paeds immediately and she was admitted for iv antibiotics without his prompt action she would have died or suffered permanent brain damage.
They have completed all their hospital based post qualification rotations and are doing their 18 or so months before they take the specialist GP exams.

A GP registrar is within 12months of becoming a normal GP (they're at minimum 4 years post medical school graduation).
The difference between a GP registrar and a newly qualified GP is that the GP reg has longer appointments, someone to ask for help and you know they're a registrar.
A newly qualified GP has normal appointment times and no mentor who expects them to discuss things with them and you don't know if they're just qualified or have simply moved to the practice and have been qualified a while.

We have a load of GP registrars at our practice. I don't mind having an appointment with them but every time without fail, no matter what the reason is we're there they say they need to check something with one of the more qualified GP's. So you then have to wait for the other GP to finish with their patient, they come in and ask all the same questions, do the same checks, then they ask you to book an appointment with them for treatment 🙄

Mostly, I have loved registrars (and locums) if I can't get my own GP I'd much rather have a registrar or a locum.

I don’t have a problem with it I’m just curious as to why.the two that I’ve spoken to have been very nice.
