To consider a second vacuum cleaner...

Skyliner001 · 14/08/2020 16:00

So we currently have a Dyson, standard.

I seen an awful lot of stuff on here about robot vacuum cleaners, and I am really genuinely considering one. To set the scene I have a dog, he does not shed an awful lot, but a fair bit!

I really like a clean floor, and I really do not enjoy vacuuming. I know it might sound like a no brainer, but I'm worried that it might be a bit gimmicky.

Is it really genuinely worth it, I would be paying approximately £180 for one with the current offer on. I would be looking at the 30c. I was looking at Eufy.

I guess it's a YABU 😂😂

I saw the thread in Chat about Eufys. Having just lugged a a Shark round the house for the never ending cat hair, YANBU, and I will see you in the virtual queue 😁

Get one. You'll never look back. We call ours Brian.

leiaskye · 14/08/2020 17:23

Personally, I wouldn’t get one.

I did have one, but the amount of prepping is ridiculous. You have to life everything up, otherwise it can get stuck on them (even chair legs, bar stools we had at the breakfast bar). Even then it would get stuck under the kitchen cupboard doors.

I hardly used it & then my puppy chewed threw the cable for the recharger. I wasn’t at all sad about getting rid (apart from it bring a huge waste of money!)

I’m sure other people must like them, but not for me.

PJsEveryday · 14/08/2020 17:25

I quite fancy one of the robot hoovers too but cant justify the cost atm 😥😥 we do have 2 charger stations for the Dyson though. A Friend got a Dyson and never used hers so she gave it to me. So how I Hoover downstairs to up, charge, a few days later hoovers upstairs to down and charge. Repeat 🙂 not having to bring the hoover down each time has made me disproportionately happy . Go for the 2nd one if you can afford it 😀

I don't have one of those but I have a hoover for every occasion - upright, hose and aquavac. Oh yes and a stick with detachable handhold. I take my hoovering very seriously Grin

Graffitiqueen · 14/08/2020 17:33

YANBU. We have a eufy 30c and a Henry for doing the stairs. The to I actually is the best thing we've ever bought!

Graffitiqueen · 14/08/2020 17:34

Ours is also called Brian.

Shmithecat2 · 14/08/2020 17:34

Not a robot vacuum, but I have a corded vacuum and a Dyson V11. I rarely touch the corded one now, it's so quick and easy to whizz round the house the Dyson and because I do that maybe 2 or 3 times a day, I rarely need to use the corded for a mammoth vacuuming session.

LunaLoveFood · 14/08/2020 17:36

I've got a robot hoover and a large hairy dog and absolutely love my hoover. We've had one about 6 years and when dc broke our first (by pouring water into it) we ordered a new one same day.

I haven't hoovered in years (apart from handheld vacuum on the stairs). Even though dog sheds hair everywhere.

We now have a more expensive model and it's worth every penny.

Ineedflour · 14/08/2020 17:37

Ours is Bob. I have 2 dogs and the amount of hair that Bob collects each night is amazing (shocking!). I wouldn't be without him.

We've had no problem with him getting stuck on things.

inthethickofit19 · 14/08/2020 17:40

We've got a shark upright heavy duty, a robot (irobot by amazon) and a cordless handheld hoover Blush

The robot is great for the kitchen and hall (hard floors) so I have it on sometimes twice a day (3 and 1 year old).

Useless in living room though as it's not as great on carpet plus gets stuck under sofa

riotlady · 14/08/2020 17:45

We have a Eufy, we call him Winston!

I love him but I do tend to lock him in a particular room rather than letting him roam the whole flat.

Skyliner001 · 14/08/2020 17:47

🤔🤔🤗 The temptation for a Eufy is real

IlanaWexler · 14/08/2020 17:47

We recently got an eufy and love it! Our evening routine is that after diner, one of us puts DS to bed and the other tidies the kitchen, puts away the toys in the living room, and turns on the eufy. Then we always have a clean adult space to enjoy for the evening. Love it!

We got ours direct from the eufy website - they had a discount which made it cheaper than amazon.

glasshalfsomething · 14/08/2020 17:50

I bought a Eufy 30C based on that other thread. Love it. I runs every day downstairs (no carpet) and I plan to let it do upstairs this weekend to see how it gets on.

Hardly any prep here but we don’t have loads lying about; and it can get under the sofas and chairs to collect all the dog hair.

hammeringinmyhead · 14/08/2020 17:51

I'd love one! We have 3 floors, a 12ft wide house, stair gates and loads of furniture though so I suspect it'd be more trouble than our current small Dyson.

JaneJack23 · 14/08/2020 17:51

I'm obsessed with our iRobot!!! You won't regret it!

Oilyoilyoilgob · 14/08/2020 17:56

We have a Bagotte called Herbert. I was dead set against getting one, husband bought one anyway and I had to hold my hands up and admit defeat-they’re great.

It really encourages me to keeps things tidy as they like to get stuff wrapped around them! But to press a button and let him get on with it is great. I’ve just bought a robomop too 😳 just means I can get on with other jobs as they’re doing theirs. The bagotte akso heads back to its charger when the battery is low, so no having to hunt for him if his battery dies.

Do it!

ParadiseLaundry · 14/08/2020 18:05

We've got three Blush we do have a four story house though.

Big dyson for downstairs,

cordless dyson for quick run around, stairs and upholstery.

Cheapy cordless for upstairs where it's all wood floors. It's actually pretty good for how cheap it was.

I you definitely won't regret getting a second one.

MrsTolerance · 14/08/2020 18:28

We got an Eufy 30c a few weeks ago. It is fab! Great for keeping on top of the dog hair and means I only need to get the Dyson out once a week (if that) to do the stairs and the conservatory (where there is a shaggy rug which may fight with Eufy). Treat yourself! It makes me a bit tidier too as floors need to be clear of junk. Not a big job but means any chargers/shoes/toys need picking up
