Those who conceived naturally after a year?

iswhois · 14/08/2020 11:54

can I hear some stories please? Coming up to the year mark now and not keen to push on to IVF straight away really.

Got tested in February and all ok with me, husband having SA in September.

I just wanted some real experiences from people who took a bit longer but still managed it naturally

Thanks Smile

First time took 8 weeks, second time took 15 months. I think I have a wonky thyroid tbh which could explain it.
I took b vitamin complex, vitamin c, agnus castus, gentle iron and selenium (look into all of these as some need to be spaced out).
I also used ovulation sticks and discovered my luteal phase was quite short. Taking all of these supplements seemed to add on a day which gave just enough time for this one to implant.
Now 6 months pregnant Grin

Funnily enough the month I got pregnant we only had sex 3 times whereas nearly every month it was every second or third day.

YesINameChangeEveryDay · 14/08/2020 13:02

I had given up hope after the 12 month mark too. I used to get really upset seeing children play with their siblings.

inthethickofit19 · 14/08/2020 13:03

No experience but heard great things about something called pre seed and also cupping

ChocoholicMama · 14/08/2020 13:04

After three years we did ivf which worked but ended in miscarriage very quickly. I went part time about a year later. A year after that (so five years ttc) we got pregnant naturally and miscarried at 6 weeks. 6 months later (5.5 years ttc) we got pregnant naturally again and happily ended with a healthy child who’s now a toddler. Second time around it took 4-5 months but I think we got a little lucky. I do credit going part time with making the difference, and it helped that I moved to a job with great bosses too. It wasn’t a case of simply “relaxing” for me as many tell you to do. It was more of a deep rooted general anxiety that improved slightly with part time work that I believe made the difference. We did all the tests and nothing was found to be wrong with either of us.

Took over a year for us. Bought some lube from amazon (contraceptive plus or something it was called) and fell pregnant straight away Smile

Alderaan · 14/08/2020 13:05

Sixteen months TTC after removal of Mirena Coil. DS now seven months old

Abouttimemum · 14/08/2020 13:08

Took a year the first time, we had to abort because of Patau syndrome. Then it took a year again and DS was born.
We Actually had a referral appointment for a fertility clinic the week I found out I was pregnant the second time. I’m almost 40.

namechangebunny · 14/08/2020 13:08

Took us 14 months! Bereavement, back pain and work stress aside, we were DTD at the wrong time of the month as well Confused friends recommended ovulation sticks - we used Ovusense which showed I was ovulating 2/3 days after I thought I might be, once we'd figured that out and used some fertility lube (sorry if TMI!) we were sorted.

Wishing you all the best Thanks

iswhois · 14/08/2020 13:26

@inthethickofit19 I've tried the cupping

Ended up in a bit of a mess unfortunately ConfusedConfused

Have also got the preseed but not used it yet- hard to ensure I've got it in before having sex and don't want to get it out spur of the moment as the packaging has a baby on it......

Conceived first after six months of trying. Second was conceived after a year (but have also had an accidental pregnancy with same
Partner which I went onto miscarry.)
I had a smear the month before i fell pregnant the second time and I also realised that i ovulate VERY early in my cycle.

Sexboardsafename · 14/08/2020 13:55

Took over 18 months and we have dual fertility issues. Found out I was pregnant a week before our first ivf appointment and it happened completely naturally. Good luck!

SignOnTheWindow · 14/08/2020 14:02

Nearly two years for the first, about a year for the second.

SignOnTheWindow · 14/08/2020 14:03

Forgot to add - no fertility issues (that were discovered, anyway)

StarEclipse · 14/08/2020 14:03

DH has male factor infertility. Took 18 months and a round of (successful) IVF to have our DC.
Exactly two years later I have fallen pregnant naturally!

MaskingForIt · 14/08/2020 14:06

It took us two years. Turns out I ovulate pretty early in the month, so we had to start banging it out about 4 days after my period started, then every 48 hours after that. I lost my first pregnancy at 11 week, but conceived again 3 months later.

MaskingForIt · 14/08/2020 14:09

Oh, my cervix is also very low down (only about 1-2 inches in), so DH took to pulling most of the way out before coming, then I also sat with my legs in the air for a fair bit afterwards! Also rolled into my front for a bit to get a good coating.
Looking back now it all sounds a bit crazy, but I guess you do what it takes.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 14/08/2020 14:11

Got pregnant naturally after 2 years of actively trying and 2 years of half arsed if we get pregnant it’s ok lack of contraception and carefulness.

Broke my ankle and got pregnant in the same month.
We were having a break from trying and just going back to fun sex and it not being a chore before our next steps stage.
Maybe I needed to stop stressing and running about and was forced to by lack of movement.

PopcornPugs · 14/08/2020 14:11

I conceived my first on the first time we tried. Baby number two took 18 months of trying and we naturally conceived twins

RogueV · 14/08/2020 14:12
  • 18 months for first
  • Then found out I actually had a blocked tube after a gynae procedure
  • 10 months second
  • 2-3 months

I wouldn’t have thought it the third time round!!!!!

iswhois · 14/08/2020 14:14

@MaskingForIt I do that too! Tempted to try a handstand Grin

I took 18 months with baby 1 (1 month with baby 2). I had very light and irregular periods. Conceived a few months after first fertility clinic appointment and tested a few days before DH was due to do a sperm test. Waiting list for his test was several months and they wouldn’t consider anything for me until they tested him. Periods completely normal after DC2.

iswhois · 14/08/2020 14:16

It's interesting hearing from people who have conceived at both ends of the time spectrum like @PopcornPugs

Makes you realise a lot of it is just down to luck

Started trying in in September 2017, got pregnant on cycle 4 but sadly miscarried very early on. By November 2018 after no more pregnancies we were having fertility tests which showed dhs sperm morphology to be terrible. Were on the verge of being referred in the new year when I fell naturally in the January. Ds is now almost 10 months old and perfect in every way! Sometimes it can happen, I will cross my fingers for you.

thelistener · 14/08/2020 14:20

I'm not sure if it is encouraging but a member of my family conceived naturally after trying for over 20 years!!!!! In the days before IVF was even a thing

FreshStart01 · 14/08/2020 14:22

After 2 years of trying with no success from age of about 30 (sometimes I'd be a few days late, so I wondered if very early miscarriages, but otherwise nothing), I went to the doctor's in order to start finding out what the problem was. DH and I had talked about giving IVF at least one try, as I was happier than him about adopting. First to be tested was DH as that's the easiest and least invasive, and all was fine with him. Next was a laparoscopy for me under a general anaesthetic, with no blockage found... but you know what?... I fell pregnant the following month! I've always wondered if there was some slight blockage and the camera basically cleared it even though nothing was then recorded. I'd also just changed job so perhaps that helped with the stress levels.

After the first baby I fell pregnant again as soon as I stopped breast feeding, so two babies in fairly close succession.

If you've been on the pill or similar contraceptive birth control, I'd say it needs a while to be out of your system completely.
