I'm in London and it's 29°C in my flat at the moment, with the air conditioning on. We only moved here a few months ago and I don't know why it's so hot indoors. Is it normal for it to be like 5°C hotter indoors than outside in this weather? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

I feel awful and my cat was ill anyway but I'm sure this heat will kill him our flat is so hot. I feel really bad for him but I can't do anything other than keep icing him down and keeping the AC on which isn't making any difference seemingly. Sad

23.5 degrees inside here in the SE. Currently only 22 degrees outside but was up to 33 degrees earlier in the day.

weepingwillow22 · 13/08/2020 18:50

It feels hotter becuase it is humid, reading 73% here.

Newdaynewname1 · 13/08/2020 18:52

just outside London, and it’s 24.5 (no air conditioning). it was 29.5 yesterday at the same time, so much much better now

Ratbagratty · 13/08/2020 18:52

Kent, 27 in coldest room, 31 in hottest upstairs outside was 34 Confused

ProfessorofCunning · 13/08/2020 18:53

No idea. Too hot and humid. Inside concrete steps are sweating.

FrankieDoyle · 13/08/2020 18:55

South East, its 22C inside my flat.

My cat suffers with the heat too. Put a cold wet towel on him and one on the floor for him to lie in. Invest in a cool mat for him and keep it in the freezer.
Freeze some tuna brine in ice cube trays and let him play with it, the ice will cool down his paws if he's batting it around.

Choppedupapple · 13/08/2020 19:02

South east, 28.4c

WanderingMilly · 13/08/2020 19:03

Indoors, it's down to 20 degrees as I have the portable air con on. I think it's 26 outside. Yesterday we were 32 degrees outside, managed to get the flat down to 24 degrees...2 air con and the curtains drawn. In the midlands here.

AmyFl · 13/08/2020 19:04

25c

AriettyHomily · 13/08/2020 19:04

pinkbalconyrailing · 13/08/2020 19:05

I havd one damp flannel on my neck and another one on my feet.

orangejuicer · 13/08/2020 19:06

25c in s Wales. It's been warm all day but there is a bit of a breeze now.

bettytaghetti · 13/08/2020 19:07

The top floor of our house reached 35 degrees yesterday. We've got a problem with a roof light on the top floor which would normally let out a lot of the heat. Don't have anything to do with a company called Glazing Vision! 🥵

PickAChew · 13/08/2020 19:07

24 in my kitchen. It's 15 outside but not pleasant fresh 15, it's dark mizzly and generally pretty clammy and unpleasant. I've had a stinker of a headache and manages d to do bugger all, this afternoon.

iklboo · 13/08/2020 19:09

Just outside Manchester. Indoors is 26°, down from 29° yesterday. Outside is now 21°, supposedly dropping to 15° overnight. Inside should start coming down soon.

Allywill · 13/08/2020 19:09

25 inside with windows/doors open. It say 16 outside on weather app but does feel warmer. Houses in uk are built to retain heat so will be warmer than outside. Jealous of air con but living in the nw it,s unlikely to be a necessity here apart from a few days a year.

Dazzedandconfused · 13/08/2020 19:10

22°c indoors according to my hive thermostat. I'm just outside Glasgow in Scotland.

LadyCatStark · 13/08/2020 19:12

24.5 downstairs and 25.5 upstairs. We don’t have air conditioning though, just a couple of fans.

tiredanddangerous · 13/08/2020 19:30

22 in the midlands.

Kitkat05 · 13/08/2020 19:30

Greater London and house thermostate is showing 29 degrees!!!

Doublechins · 13/08/2020 19:44

20 indoors here (NE)

I don't have fans or anything on just a couple of windows open upstairs.

Chopbob · 13/08/2020 20:33

16 here indoors, feels much colder outside. Its gale force winds too with a bit of rain. We are right up on the tops of the pennines. I'm having a toasty hot bath!

Jojobythesea · 13/08/2020 20:34

28° here in Devon 🥵

AnyFucker · 13/08/2020 20:36

PinkDaffodil2 · 13/08/2020 20:37

London, have got the flat down to 30 degrees but peaked at 34 today and yesterday. Dropped down to 27 last night. Trying to revise and keep 13 month old DD cool!
