Anti social behaviour neighbours help!

Sil offered council house 20 years ago, they like where they live so bought off the council. Then new tenants moved in. Last night for example party till 6am, loud music, screaming, plenty of people. My brother and his family are at breaking point. They can't just move as they need to be there a few more years as only just purchased off the council. And they are council tenants making this noise and are on the to be moved list. Brother has contacted the council and begun the process where they monitor the sound level and they were told to keep it down after 11pm but clearly they don't care. This still goes on. Apparently they scream at their kids all day, swearing and I believe they get hit also.

Any ideas how to help apart from trying to cut the electric? They need proper action now, talking kindly and like adults doesn't help as they threaten brothers family. Any success stories or similar situations? Thanks I owe you a pint x

Wait for the next party until 6am. Wait until about 9-10 am next morning then let loose - mow the lawn, get some scrap wood and hammer nails into it, send the kids out in the garden. Repeat every time they are hungover.

Sorry I don't have actual useful advice but this is what I'd do 100%!

If you believe their kids 'get hit', have they reported it to ss? Or is it just to make them look worse!

The council will monitor the noise and the police can be called after 11pm? Surely the other neighbours have reported it, if its that bad.

i'd keep on at the council and be a general pita with them. a bunch of twats raising the next generation of future twats. those poor dc, i'd also speak to ss and get advice fromthe police if threatening behaviour occured

TSSDNCOP · 13/08/2020 17:20

Are you their only neighbours? Would others join you in a concerted effort to knock it on the head eg reports to the Council re the noise, calls to the school/SS about the child abuse, calls to 111 to report domestic violence/noise etc

Clearthinking · 13/08/2020 17:23

The neighbours the other side got threatened, then they moved as they were privately renting

I joked earlier about playing loud music in the day time but the bloke was asleep on a sofa out side the house and the woman shouting to someone on her phone. Brother works from home so can't be to loud. I think they have 3 kids and they were actually subjected to it as well

Make your your Sil has reported the family to SS. Even if they aren't getting hit, it sounds like an unsafe place to live.

I think you should also call SS. More complaints carry more weight. You have visited your sil so you can say you've also witnessed it.

Save the children xx

Phone the police.
Phone social services.
Keep on at the council.

HughGrantsHair · 13/08/2020 17:26

Have the neighbours been warned about their anti social behaviour? We have just received a letter saying our neighbours have for loud music past 11pm. Next time it happens it will be a warning notice, then a house visit and finally a criminal behaviour order. They need to push for the council to take it seriously. We've been told any music after 11pm and we are to ring 101.

Clearthinking · 13/08/2020 17:26

They absolutely scream at the kids, so loud you hear it off the front, 3 houses down. I will show this brother and get him to report everything. The neighbours the other side joined forces with bro but must have had enough and went. Thank you for the advice

They can move if they want to. They just wouldn't get to keep the discount they bought their council home with. They're free to sell, repay the council, and find a new place to rent or buy. Might be the best option. The council's likely to drag it's heels doing anything about the nightmare tenants. They're obliged to house families even if they're evicted and it's cheaper to keep them where they are than pay for expensive temporary accommodation.

AiryFairyArtyFarty · 13/08/2020 17:29

How are the council monitoring the sound level?

Angelina82 · 13/08/2020 17:33

What makes you think the kids get hit? And why hasn’t your DB and SIL made the call to social services already? Confused

Clearthinking · 13/08/2020 17:34

Yes, they have been warned about noise after 11pm but they ignore it. Last time they said something about 20 youths sat outside the front with a bat

any threatening behaviour needs police advice /assistance
recklessruby · 14/08/2020 12:01

If they threaten you call the police every time (sil and bro). Council tenants are required to behave properly and not cause anti social behaviour or allow any visitors to their property to do so.
Escalate it enough and they will run out of warnings and be evicted.
Call SS too.
Nobody should have to live with that.
And if you think kids are being hurt call police too.
Just throw everything at it.
Good luck. Some people really dont deserve a council house.
