Hi,

Sorry, wrong place but it’s urgent...

Can anyone advise the quickest way to get a card to NZ? Can I order from the NZ Moonpig website in the U.K.- would my bank just convert the NZ price to sterling?

I used to use the NZ post send a card service but I can’t find it anymore so maybe it doesn’t exist now.

It took six weeks to for the recipient to receive a card I sent in March and this is for a bereavement so need it quicker.

Thanks

I don’t know how Royal Mail works but perhaps if you paid for the most expensive express post. Here in Aus, I was advised that sending by ordinary mail was luck of the draw as to whether it found itself on a plane (only about four per day leaving Perth currently) and whether our letter found itself on a ship. I can’t imagine NZ being much different based upon what I see on flightradar. But if you pay for better service, you should be prioritised.

I hope that all makes sense.

Can't see a NZ Moonpig site, only Aus, but this site seems to offer a similar service in NZ:
www.thereddog.co.nz/collections/greeting-cards/sympathy-thinking-of-you

Yes, your bank will use their conversion rate to convert the amount it takes out of your bank account to Stirling (note this won't be as good an exchange rate as the 'official' one, so don't be surprised if a little bit more comes out of your account than you were expecting).

If push comes to shove, I am a Kiwi and can get a card/write a message/post it here - feel free to PM (new poster but long time lurker)

Thanks so much everyone! That’s a very kind offer Kiwi. If I get stuck I might take you up on that.

Off to explore the red dog site.

Yeah, post has been rubbish to NZ from the UK since Covid. Sent a car to my best friend a month before her birthday (so sent end of April for an end of May birthday) and it literally arrived last week.

If there's a way to circumvent the UK to NZ postal service currently I'd use it. TBF, it's not usually this bad - 3 weeks is usually enough. But Covid has really screwed international postal services Sad

sent a card even!

We've switched from Moonpig to Thortful

mbosnz · 13/08/2020 18:43

Right, that's me getting on with the Christmas shopping and posting it back home. . .

NoWordForFluffy · 13/08/2020 18:44

The Oz Moonpig site sends to NZ as DH sends cards to his brother using it.

mangopip · 13/08/2020 18:44

I sent a birthday card to NZ using Moonpig. It wasn’t sent from the UK but from Australia. It took a few days rather than the weeks I was expecting and arrived very early

KaleJuicer · 13/08/2020 18:48

Long time poster of mail from UK to NZ. It used to take 10 days max, now it is taking 8 weeks sometimes longer. I would go on a NZ florist website or similar and send a card via there.

I haven't tried the NZ moonpig site but that also sounds like a plan. If I use my uk cards on nz sites the currency converts automatically (with a small currency conversion charge from my bank). It sometimes triggers extra checks as the computer systems can think your card has been stolen, but less likely if you're buying something modestly priced like a card.

Hello,
This thread is pretty old but it popped up and I thought I would let you all know that since covid I have been adding messages to the cards that we sell and sending them around NZ on behalf of people from all over. Our little company is called The Paper People. We don't have as many funny cards as Moonpig but there are still plenty to choose from. We thought it was something we could do for people stuck at home and wanting to send some love to family and friends.
