Anyone still doing bits and pieces of homeschool?

Is anyone still continuing in some form through the holidays?

Yes, still doing little bits each day. Dd struggles and we don't know why.
Reading school book every day (from reading chest) tiny bits of grammar. Handwriting practise. Only takes about 30 mins and she does exactly what she wants for the whole rest of the day.
We had very, very little from the school over lock Down, and she has come on enormously. If she was a stronger student in class, and had been given proper lock down work (year 2)then we would probably just be doing some tables.

It will be different for everyone and each child's needs and how much school did over lock down and even before.
If dd can now keep up

My DD has a shed load of work to do this holiday but she is going into year 13. Making a start on UCAS application, including first draft of personal statement. Homework such as timed essay questions, additional reading round her A levels, practical work for one A level (data collection) and revision for delayed end of year exams. I really feel for the year 13's as school are emphasising that all future tests could go towards their final A level results if we have another year where exams don't go ahead. I knew this academic year wouldn't be easy but feels like the pressure is on already.

Keeping up 15 mins of Maths because DS struggles (going into Yr 6). He really lost momentum during lockdown and I fear that if he has a completely Maths free summer, Y6 will be horrendously stressful for him. Just want to keep ticking over.
I’m a devil mother, as you see Hmm

@Star81

Do you normally do school work during summer holidays ?
No but we also don’t spend nearly six months doing a couple of hours of school work a day.

We've just given up this week but have been doing it up until now. It's basically one hour between 8am and 9am and one hour between 2 and 3. maths and english primarily. The older ones do some independent reading on top but DS (just 5) needs encouragement to read himself. But that's all we managed throughout lockdown as well (we've been working FT) so we wanted to keep up the consistency as otherwise I really fear the older 2 will have dropped quite far behind.

Not doing anything formal for the next three weeks as we are (finally!) on holiday and I need the break as much as the kids. Bit of reading and some times table apps which they find quite fun if they complain they are bored.

I did find it useful to do work with them that wasn't set by the school. I can see where they struggle a bit more clearly in a way that wasn't as obvious when school set work and I am able to direct their learning a bit to help, in particular, DD's confidence. I think I will probably keep doing a bit with them myself over the next few years actually to make sure I know where the gaps lie. But hopefully not for this long!

No - my Y9 daughter die every piece of work sent during the closure so she is having a proper break before starting her GCSE courses this year (fingers crossed they are open!) and my younger dd is starting Y7 and a new school so she is having a break too. I might have encouraged them to otherwise.

Mine are about to go into year 9 and year 11 and I always make them do work during the holidays. DS1 is in the middle of GCSEs and so he's doing about 3 hours a day on his weaker subjects. DS2 is doing some maths and some typing every day (although he isn't quite as self motivated and so often manages to get away with not doing it if I'm busy and don't keep an eye on him.)
