Give up looking for a new home?

I’ve been searching for a new property and I cannot find anything suitable. Precious little seems to be appearing on the market and the prices are ridiculous. I’ve put in an offer on a property but 5 days later I’ve not heard back from the vendor who is apparently old school and does not have a mobile. I’ve call the estate agent a few times and I think by now they must think I’m bothering them.

I’m truly fed up. I’m I unreasonable to just pack it in and stay put? The move would benefit my son massively in terms of being near family and activities he attends on a regular basis.

I doubt the agent think you are bothering them - they must be extremely frustrated if the can't reach the owner.
You just have to keep looking. The house for you may come on the market tomorrow. Is yours on the market? If you sold it could you move in to rental in the area you are looking in so you can move on a purchase straight away?

Are you selling to buy? Is your house currently on the market or are you a ftb? All this impacts how estate agents will view you. If you are a FTB do you have your AIP? So you are ready to go. If so.....go talk to an agent that sells lots of houses like you want to buy. Tell them you are ready to go, what you want etc and ask them to let you know if something comes up.

Estate agents are paid by commission and easy commission is attractive.

If however you need to sell your home first, but it's not yet on the market....they usually won't touch you or let you make an offer.

I don’t need to sell and I’m not in a chain. Mortgage ready to go and my employment is stable.

This house is my dream house and I am wondering whether the seller wants to take advantage of the buoyant market and see whether they can hold out for a higher offer.

I don’t know what’s going on and after weeks of viewing properties I am exhausted and fed up. I don’t know why I have allowed it to get to me so much.

You're in a great position if you don't need to sell, just take your time and keep looking. I'm dreading starting my search next year as we do need to sell. What are the chances our dream home will be on the market at the same time as the current home??

phone again and ask what's going on. Estate agents sometimes....just sometimes....want to offer properties to their own contacts....i wonder if ghat is happening. If you get no joy call a better agent....tell them what you wanf and that you are ready to go. Hopefully they will find you something.
