To wonder where TF all these spiders have come from? SPIDER PIC IN OP

They are everywhere! In almost every corner of my house there is at least one spider. High or low, between furniture, behind radiators, I even found one that had made a home overnight in my dogs food bowl this morning! One keeps making a home in the box of dishwasher tablets Confused I don't think I've ever been so watched Grin Where the hell have they suddenly sprung from? We've never had this amount of spiders in our house before!

@Rainbowchampagne @chocolatemademefat You're both welcome to come and collect some, we must have hundreds of them! Grin

We have loads. I don't mind them at all. They're very good at catching the biting ones and mosquitoes.

fairydustandpixies · 10/08/2020 22:46

Argh I have dozens of those too! I call them pin body spiders for obvious reasons! I have horrendous arachnophobia but I can just about tolerate these things. Just!!!

safariboot · 10/08/2020 22:51

We just have the giant house spiders. I had to evict one recently that was too big for the normal glass method, had to knock it into an empty bin and hurry outside before it could think about climbing out.

Armi · 10/08/2020 22:54

I am terrified of spiders but love these spindly lovelies. They really do eat the big spiders. I never believed it until I saw one munching away on a giant hairy monster.

SerenityNowwwww · 10/08/2020 22:57

We’ve got one that hides behind the loo. Little bugger is very nippy and I’ve not managed to catch him/her. I am the resident spider catcher...

JustFrigginNameChange · 10/08/2020 23:01

I catch at least one of these a day in my flat, and I've been here for 4 years

gamerchick · 10/08/2020 23:02

That particular spider is the ideal one to have in your house OP. I do a squee when I find one and ask if I can take him home Grin

I wiped a decent black one into my arse recently and the fucker bit me. Don't sit on the toilet paper then... Twat.

That was fun.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 10/08/2020 23:08

@SerenityNowwwww yep behind the loo Is also one of their many favourite places.

In a way I'm glad my toddler named them all Mr Skinny Legs. I don't think I know enough names to name them all individually Grin

Same here, except ours aren’t skinny legs they’re huge legs. Yesterday dd7 tells me there’s a tarantula in the toilet, chuckling to myself I go in to assess the situation (expecting an average type), she wasn’t scared she loves spiders but I’m sure my expression wasn’t that of a brave soul. We never ever hurt spiders, I normally just get a glass and paper and very carefully minding their legs contain them and put them out into the garden. This dude that was in the toilet room was huge, I’m ashamed to say I called dp to deal with it (not because he’s male but because although I’d never harm them I have an issue when they’re huge), the spider was successfully put in the garden out of sight of birds but blimey they’re getting bigger here!

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 10/08/2020 23:30

@NotExactlyHappyToHelp

They look like cellar spiders. I call them my spindly babes. They don’t creep me out like house spiders and they actually eat the big clompy ones so they’re my best mates.
Do they really eat the big scary ones?? Cos I’ve got a load of these little spindly ones in work and I’ve been trying to get rid of them.

If they can get rid of the big clumpy ones I’ll catch them and bring them all home Grin

Stigsmother · 10/08/2020 23:36

You should see the big stripey one that has taken up residence in my greenhouse....he was keeping his strength up by munching on one of his smaller relatives.

Crosswithlifeatm · 10/08/2020 23:39

It's that spidery time of year.Keep an eye out for their babies, one minute a ball of fluff next millions of them.I hoover before they hatch.

FromEden · 10/08/2020 23:43

Really? They look far too weedy to get rid of the monster ones....

Apparently their venom is quite strong to other insects and thats how they kill them. They are too weak to bite us though or so I've heard. I hate them, the way they walk makes me shudder.

Mrmojorising71 · 10/08/2020 23:46

I am terrified of spiders, ridiculously petrified however these lads are always welcome in my home, last year was the first time in years they weren't here and I spent months in a constant state of terror, we had huge spiders popping up everywhere, love them they are your friends 😊
