Cleaning windows

Posting here for traffic. I am unable to stand on a stepladder so can’t reach the windows inside the house. A window cleaner does the outside. I also have arthritis so it is hard. Does anyone know of a miracle gadget that would help please?

I'm posting to catch a good answer - I can reach mine but I do an appalling job!

Sennedd · 09/08/2020 21:44

Yes, I know what you mean. Let’s both hope someone comes up with an answer other than elbow grease!

Genuine question- have you asked your window cleaner? I didn't think mine did inside windows, asked him out of interest and surprisingly he does. Never knew that!

Don't know if this would work but maybe worth a try.
Try one of those flat headed microfibre "mops" used on laminate floors and ceramic tiles.
Spray a window cleaner directly onto the microfibre pad and use that to clean.
Change pad for a clean, dry pad and use that to dry and buff up windows.

Or, ask your window cleaner to do the insides as suggested by @Supermarketworker06😊

Yes, thank you. No harm in asking him.

Check Lakeland. They have lots of clever looking things for window cleaning. I haven't tried them, but most Lakeland stuff is pretty good.

Off to look. Thank you .

I use one of those long-handled soft brushes that come with a dustpan. It's lighter to hold and manoeuvre than a full sweeping brush.

Spray on some window cleaner if you can reach far enough, and brush through. If not, dip brush in a bucket of water with a good splash of vinegar in it to wash the pane.
Wrap or tie an old towel or dry cloth around the brush head to dry off the glass.

For my upstairs windows I'd use one of those long brushes as well! Then just a damp cloth and some washing up liquid would always do it for me.

my husband is a window cleaner and he sometimes does the insides for customers. It depends on his diary as it takes longer, so usually you have to book him in for the next appointment, but most window cleaners will do it for you.
