To start swearing at MLM hun bots?

I'm mother to two young children and I'm in multiple mum groups on Facebook, this makes me prime prey for the multi level marketing pests.

I've had an increase in 'random adds' recently from these people trying to flog me crap or have me join their teams so I've put a polite "I'm not interested in anything to do with MLM's" in my bio and I still get them.

I hate these schemes with a passion. I really do. I'm not going to stop using the mum groups as I find them both entertaining and helpful.

WIBU to tell the next one who adds or contacts me inspite of my "no MLM's" disclaimer, to fuck off?

Probably impolite but I feel sure that someone will come along and give you a gem of a response.

Personally I’d just ignore, mute and if I saw them in person , at some point and they brought it up I’d say “ no thank you.”

If a friend started complaining about how I’m not supporting them, which is common, then I’d extricate myself from the friendship. I wouldn’t even give a reason, I would ‘ghost’ them.
Something that I’d not usually advocate as its very rude but some of these MLM recruits develop an almost Messianic personality with regard to their product.

Grow up

And ignore if it bothers you so much

hammeringinmyhead · 09/08/2020 18:51

YANBU. I'd be replying along the lines of - do you really think you are the first to try and sell me magic aloe vera gel/magic shake/magic mascara?

BelleSausage · 09/08/2020 18:53

Remember that the bot (poor soul who is chasing you) is in fact the victim of the pyramid scheme.

Just start replying with the link to this blog:

Also, I have had an influx of Bodyshop at Home people recently. Some mum at the local primary has gone all #lossbabe and sucked them all in 🤦🏼‍♀️

Grow up? Never Wink

I was happy to ignore the first 5 or 6 times but it has become a regular occurrence.

These people are praying on recently postpartum women, some of which (me included) are on there reaching out for support or helping others through postnatal depression/anxiety.

We don't need people hounding us and telling us the answer to all of our problems is juice plus, and how amazing our lives would be if we joined their team.

I know that they're a con, not everybody does.

Thank you for the blog link belle, I will do exactly that.

Its probably better to send that than "fuck off" really.

My response tends to be along the lines of, “I don’t support the exploitation of vulnerable women.” Because that’s what it is, of course. You’re not becoming business owners here.

Soubriquet · 09/08/2020 19:25

I really don’t blame you.

But I would do the “no thank you” a chance first

If they still don’t accept that, then fuck off is more than reasonable

Sometimes cults need a strong response

wigglerose · 09/08/2020 20:08

I'd be polite first, then direct them to testimony and facts. I'm sure you'll get the whole, "Why don't you support me/I'm going to be different" guilt trip.
For the record, I despise MLM. I've never had a respectful, positive interaction with someone in one. If you're in one, educate yourself and get out.

ExtraOnions · 09/08/2020 20:38

I have 2 FM huns now on Facebook ... both flogging fake/not fake perfume, a “bath creations” one, currently running an illegal raffle .. and 2 bodyshop ones. I live in a small village, and unless we are all going to bath 5 times a day, no idea how they make money.
I’m sure that the posts about alleged earnings are nonesense

TrickorTreacle · 09/08/2020 21:09

MLMs should go through Parliament and carry the same sentence as grooming, as MLMs groom the vulnerable.

ImFree2doasiwant · 09/08/2020 21:57

Change your Facebook settings so they can't contact you.

MrsToothyBitch · 10/08/2020 11:29

I kill with kindness & send them a super syrupy reply explaining that I'm concerned for them because they are being exploited and are part of a scam.

I include links to mlm truth & ellebeau, wish them luck with future legitimate business ventures, tell them never to contact me again and block. Apart from one trying to get me into a weight loss scam. Put a sting in my syrup- I asked her if she was calling me fat and suggested she should have a bit more tact with strangers. Cheeky mare! Grin

Sometimes cults need a strong response

Some very good podcasts and videos on YT from #antimlm movement. I'm struck by the fact that they describe MLMs as commercial cults
