Is it stupid to book flights to Thailand for Xmas?

We've not been anywhere since Lockdown, with no plans on the horizon.

I wanted to see how things panned out.

But thinking ahead to Xmas. I realise it could be a period of higher infections, but presuming more robust testing measures are in place globally, is planning to go further afield stupid?

My parents in law live in Thailand and they were meant to come back in June but their flights were cancelled. Same again in July and Aug. They have been told the earliest they will likely be able to fly is December but there are obviously no guarantees. They are on lockdown there

I dont get this desperation for people who can't survive one year without a holiday.

Perhaps you haven't had a very serious illness or a bereavement in your family? Or nursed a sick family member for some years?

Read the quotation I was responding to? I wasn’t talking about holidays abroad

We are in a Pandemic!

No commercial flights to Thailand for the forseeable future. Borders now closed indefinitely. Announced in Bangkok Post today.
