To judge people on their choice of partners?

I work for a large organisation where dating amongst colleagues is fairly common. In the past couple of years, 2 women I work with have started serious relationships with men, who at least at work, come across as not very nice (I.e. passive aggressive, misogynistic and other similar personality traits). Everytime I have to deal with one of the guys, which is luckily not often, I wonder what on earth their partner is doing with them. Does this just make me a judgemental bitch?

Some women are attracted to men like like that. Whilst you and I see an arrogant misogynist; they see an alpha Male / "man's man".

It's lost on me but it's not uncommon.

I once had a great female boss. Went to Oxford, very clever and accomplished, top of her field while still not quite 30. She lauded equal rights in a really inspiring way. Yet the way she pandered to her somewhat Neanderthal husband horrified me. They both worked full time but she did all the cooking and cleaning. When she was expecting her first child she felt very sick and exhausted. One day after work she'd had a quick lie down and fallen asleep. When she went downstairs she found her husband sitting mournfully at the dining table waiting for her to reappear and cook for him. She told me she felt guilty as he "couldn't" cook and was really hungry. if that was my husband he'd have had a right earful from me

After the baby was born and she returned to work after a year her husband promptly left his job because it was his turn to have a year off! He didn't want to look after the child however as he "didn't know how" do boss had to send baby to full time nursery anyway. She thought he "deserved the break". I was flabbergasted.

They are still together and she has four children with him. She seems really happy. Baffled.
