To not fancy paying £100 to stay here, for 2 nights, over Christmas with my in-laws, our 3yo and me at 35 weeks pregnant?

lol @ hotlove.

Yes, you fancy dan. Get on your knees and scrub that YH floor!

Heavily-pregnant-with-toddler-in-tow MOANER, beans. Get dirty.

MaryAnnSingletomb · 02/10/2007 18:20

a scout hut !!! you're joking, no ?

HotLove · 02/10/2007 18:24

cammelia, youre another one of those folk with one eyebrow

PurlyQueen · 02/10/2007 18:33

I don't understand - if you live in NW london, why do you need to stay overnight? I'd prefer the comfort of my own bed - I'm not sleeping in a hostel for anybody

Roskva · 02/10/2007 18:44

YANBU - I wouldn't stay there not pg, not at Xmas. If you're going to self-cater, you may as well stay at home and be comfortable. Can you offer the ILs a tent in the garden if they want to rough it?

Troutpout · 02/10/2007 18:50

come come now...where is your sense of adventure!

tell em to piss orff..or book you somewhere decent

runawayquickly · 02/10/2007 18:55

Not far from me - should I go and have a scout round for you on the premis I am "just looking"? Will take a big clipboard, mumble into a dictaphone and suck my teeth a lot - that way they will think I'm from the council/tourist board and at least turn the heating on before you come...

Vikkin · 02/10/2007 19:05

Have a little looksy and then runawayquickly.

They must be tricking you surely...surely. There are many lovely places for a self-catering break over Xmas/New Year. OK, not for £100. But if you pay nuts, you'll get a squirrels nest.

Cammelia · 03/10/2007 08:47

hotlove its one raised eyebrow

Lorayn · 03/10/2007 09:06

Gosh, I have stayed in youth hostels in the peak district, and really loved them, but tbf they were manor houses with gorgeous grounds in the middle of the summer! I wouldnt go, no way, and thats without even considering the pregnancy, or it being christmas.

suey2 · 03/10/2007 09:11

why don't you find your ILs a nice youth hostel in NW london if they want to see you at christmas? They can't object to that surely....

HotLove · 03/10/2007 10:09

you dont say

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 03/10/2007 10:12

ummm thats a shed

Dropdeadfred · 03/10/2007 10:14

why do your inlaws want you to stay there? can they not stay with you?

bookwormtailmum · 03/10/2007 10:15

I'm surprised that it's even open at Christmas.

YANBU

bossykate · 03/10/2007 10:18

yanbu.

although we have this every other year with the ils. we'll be staying in a travelodge this time. at least it will be cheap.

bookwormtailmum · 03/10/2007 10:20

Travelodge isn't quite a shed though .

bossykate · 03/10/2007 10:25

oh i agree the travelodge is a palace compared to the scout hut!

CountessDracula · 03/10/2007 11:08

i don't quite understand
Are you in-laws staying there too??
it looks vile

Soph73 · 03/10/2007 12:00

YANBU - come and stay with us we live in the Canaries Do your ILs not like you or something?

Piggy · 03/10/2007 12:06

Blimey Beansprout - that's a shocker. I had no idea it would be that bad.

Desist lovely Beansprout and at all costs.

Hassled · 03/10/2007 12:06

YANBU. You might as well stay in a shoebox on the side of the M25. It looks grimmer than a very grim place.

Piggy · 03/10/2007 12:07

And the depressing thing is that they've probably made it look really good for the photo.

Blu · 03/10/2007 12:11

"It's a recommissioned scout hut, surely?"

You may be presuming too much with the 'recommissioned'!

LOL. Very resourceful of your ILs, though!

Piggy · 03/10/2007 12:11

What's their dining room like? Do they do a nice Christmas lunch?
