To have just realised Hugh Bonneville and Colin Firth are not the same person?

Mind just blown. I know this must sound crazy but I’ve always thought they’re the same person.

Not been a fan of the programmes/ films, but in my head I’ve always thought Hugh Bonneville/ Colin Firth/ Downton Abbey/ Mr Darcy we’re all the same actor for years.

I’ve done this sort of thing before. Does anyone else?

Actually, I found this thread because I confused the two. At different times in their career they do look like the same person, if not at least a close relative. Hugh in “Take A Girl Like You” (2000) and Colin in some of his earlier work like “Pride and Prejudice “ they look a lot alike .

Although, in my defence, they are actually brothers, so they're genetically quite similar.

I couldn't tell you which was one Thor and which one married Miley Cyrus, or if it was even two separate brothers. Every time I learn, I forget immediately.

Did you see the interview with Woody Harrelson and Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson didn’t realise Liam and Chris were brothers, the penny dropped with him when the interviewer asked Liam a question about Chris. Very funny, worth a watch on YouTube.

There is one I can't tell from Colin Firth, had to google him, his name is Tony Gardner apparently, always thought they were the same person until last week when I couldn't understand why Colin's name wasn't on the credits of something i'd just watched. James Nesbitt and John Hannah also.

Kira Knightly and Natalie Portman for me, I always get them confused.

I have this with Ryan Reynolds (who randomly recently bought Wrexham city football club) and all the other American leading man romcom types who all look to me like knock off clones of Ryan. I think there’s a bit of a ‘type’ so it’s hardly surprising they all look so similar.

This thread has made me smile! I suppose if you’ve never seen P&P/Downton and if you squint there might be a resemblance but after 5 minutes of each you would realise there is a massive disparity it sex appeal. Colin is a god!!

My mind was blown last night watching Who wants to be a Millionaire when I realised Gabby Logan and Gabby Roslin are two different people. As in I knew of the two names but somehow never clicked that there were two of them. So when I saw Gabby Logan last night I was like wow she looks great has she had work done she looks so different and DH was like erm don't think so, then I somehow googled Roslin instead of Logan and was gobsmacked they aren't the same person

Radio: Mark Radcliffe and Mark Riley. Never know which is which and before lockdown, Zoe Ball and Sara Cox. More that when they are on the radio I wouldn't be aware which ones they were. Post-Lockdown and wfh with the radio on, I cannot stand listening to any of them!
