Personal trainer using local park to train clients inside actual playground near children

I was dumbfounded this morning when I took my children to a big local playground in surrey to find a personal trainer teaching an adult man (who was obviously a client) using the play equipment.

She had large heavy metal dumb bells on the floor next to the swings and stretch equipment and a harness attached to the climbing frame.

It was 0830 am (took the kids early today as it's so hot) but there were already atleast 6-8 children playing with their parents so not empty.

I approached them and calmly said that the equipment was unsafe and was preventing the children from using the swings so could they please leave.

They didnt look embarrassed at all and said they were almost finished anyway.
After 15 minutes the man had left but the personal trainer was still there slowly pacing away equipment without a care in the world.
I must admit I lost my temper at this point and raised my voice to say it was completely illegal and unsafe for her to use the playground in this way and that I would be sending a photo of her to the local council. Not to mention it's a pandemic.

She was very brazen and told me I needed to calm down and take a muscle relaxant.

All the while no other parents said a word to back me up.
Why is that people dont say anything? That upset me as much as the situation did.

Or am I just an uptight cranky mum who needs to keep quiet?

I remembered!

I told some guy who seemed to be facetiming a family member or wtv that he needed to get out of the playground.

With my kids I'm not going to accept someone possibly videoing them!

"Why is that people dont say anything? That upset me as much as the situation did."

Because they did not care and just because you're upset doesn't mean everyone should back you up. How self centred can you be

@KarenKarendson

I'm stunned at the number of people taking the PT's side, to the point of repeating the "muscle relaxant" jibe.

If these people only have Karen to use as an insult, then it clearly shows their limited thought process. In turn it stands to reason that their lack of intelligence and critical thought means they are unable to comprehend why a PT using children play equipment is not the right thing to do.

Yes, it does make me think less of them, but it does annoy me, too, since it's so unnecessary, and they're shooting themselves in the foot, too.

I feel so sorry for people who are really called Karen to have their lovely name used in such an ignorant, sexist and derogatory way.

KitKat2020 · 13/08/2020 18:32

I couldn’t get worked up about this personally.

I don’t expect other people to back me up if I scold strangers in public either Hmm

HQ are deleting any puerile personal attacks using the woman-hating classist Karen epithet.
Obviously, they need to have the posts brought to their attention first. I reported a couple last night which were deleted.

My friend used to teach Boot camp in the local Park. She had to have a permit. Not sure if all councils are the same.

Really glad to hear "Karen" is being recognised for the way in which it is used. Thank you, @MNHQ
PhilSwagielka · 13/08/2020 19:34

I wish you lot got as angry about racism as you did about the 'Karen' thing.

PiataMaiNei · 13/08/2020 19:39

Which when used in the UK by primarily white British people represents sexism, ageism and classism, if we're going to have that discussion.

Frankola · 13/08/2020 19:41

I'm grabbing my popcorn.

"Its illegal"...hahah this is great!

Glitterball

Well done MNHQ.

Whatthebloodyell · 13/08/2020 19:45

I’d be annoyed if that happened In my local
Playground. Loads of people use rest of the the park for Personal training, kids football etc but the playground is for younger children not for adults. I probably wouldn’t have said anything as I’m
Non confrontational, but I can guarantee somebody else would as people get very opinionated about other goings on in the park on the local fb page!

ScorpioSphinxInACalicoDress · 13/08/2020 19:53

Phil, I do.
It's not an either/or.
I get really fucked off at loads of things. I'm a multi-tasking hater of fuckwittery.

Lolwhat · 13/08/2020 19:59

It’s a public space, if they were out playing with knives I could understand the concern
