Cleaner vs. Part-time Nanny

Aibu to think that part-time nannies who cover school run and look after kids should absolutely charge more than cleaners for their hourly rate? We live in London by the way. What is your opinion?

Cleaning is hard physical labour.

My sister in law does the part time nanny thing (but not qualified nanny) in a nappy valley part of London. She charges between £15-20 an hour depending on the number of kids, works with 3/4 different families. So yes more than a cleaner, which would probably get between £10-12?

It is a more skilled job, mainly due to language, ie you can be a cleaner with quite basic English but most people wouldn't want that for someone looking after their kids.

Cleaning a toilet and raising a child are completely different things.

Electricians should be paid more of an hourly rate than delivery drivers

What's your point. Comparing apples to oranges is never helpful

Supply and demand 🤷🏻‍♀️
I’d expect a nanny to have higher rates, yes.
But if they were inexperienced “nanny” (with no childcare qualifications, more a baby sitter) just do school run and an hour of babysitting after - and I was paying for the car and insurance - then I can imagine a cleaner providing own materials in an area of high demand costing more.

Why do you ask?
