Does anyone else ever get lonely? I have a ds who's 2 and dp but yet I feel like that's literally it!

Oh yes !

I have a partner and a family so I am not alone, but loneliness is not always about being alone is it?
Sometimes I feel so lonely because nobody knows how I am feeling and never will. Sometimes I feel lost and don't know how to shake the feelings off. I can't talk about it to anyone so the isolatedness actually comes from within.
I don't always feel like this but when I do it can be overwhelming.

Luckily I do not feel like this all the time.

Hi DP, sorry to hear that, I think you should find some friends also. Yes, is very good to have the people you mentioned with you but they're family, I think friends and other connections are different somehow and important specially if you feel lonely. Maybe speaking and creating new relationships at work for example could give you the chance of being able to talk about different things and that could make a difference Bear

I have 2DCs. I used to hear people say "my children are my world" and think "haven't you got a life outside of your children?" But now, I think this is totally true for me too. I used to have a very wide social circle, travelled extensively for work & play, dated, had partners, enjoyed films, restaurants, bars, concerts, festivals, clubs, gym, hobbies etc. Since having children, a lot of these things have fallen away so my children have become my world. I rarely get to see friends these days (even pre-covid) as I can't get out for an evening due to childcare. I can't afford a social life or hobbies as my finances and priorities have changed since having children. I have lots of mum-friends, but these relationships revolve around the children. My eldest is only 3 so a lot of the conversation tends to be about sleepless nights or potty training rather than anything else going on in life/the wider world. It does get lonely.
