DH has been on furlough until this week but a week before the end of July he received 4 weeks notice from his employer.
Only a 2 boss 3 employee company with DH & another member being made redundant.
The employee they’re keeping is on holiday for 3 weeks starting this week so DH is having to work his notice but boss 1 he doesn’t get on with and the guy is making his life miserable. DH believes he’s going to try to screw him out of his redundancy pay by forcing him to quit. DH’s notice letter states that due to these unprecedented (hate that word with a passion) times there’s just not a lot of work - it’s a small transport company and they’ve got rid of a vehicle to cut overheads which is perfectly acceptable obviously but boss 2 told DH yesterday that it’s actually because DH and boss 1 clash and argue too much. Boss 1 insists on micromanaging DH and calling him constantly asking things like how much longer are you going to be, why are you going that way, why does it take you x amount of minutes to fill the truck with diesel and adblue, pull your tacho card (illegal) to get back, why are you stopping for food etc. The list is endless.
He’s doing us a massive favour really and today boss 1 decided to be a snarky twat in front of a customer (DH knows the guy out of work) and kept having digs at DH until DH turned round and point blank told him he needed to stop. Boss 1 then berated DH for his attitude in front of a customer and DH just walked away but heard customer tell boss 1 that he’s damn lucky DH didn’t flatten him. Boss 1 later rings DH and proceeds to gloat that they have so much work he can’t cope with it all and that their bank account has never looked so healthy, blah blah blah. DH says he’s not bothered and you’re doing me a favour because I need to get away from you and this company anyway and boss 1 starts screaming down the phone that DH is fucking rude for interrupting him and hangs up on DH!
I have spoken to our family gp and she is more than happy to sign DH off for his last two weeks of notice as this is having a negative impact on DH’s mental health and he needs to be on top form because of driving his truck in places like London which can be very stressful but we don’t know where DH would stand with regards to his redundancy pay etc.
Can anyone help? Sorry for all the information but I thought the more you knew the better 🤷🏻‍♀️

Maybe try calling ACAS? They should be able to help

imissthesouth · 05/08/2020 21:10

Definitely call ACAS, the boss is BVU, I'm sure it's called constructive dismissal if they try to force you to quit. Hope all goes well

Thanks, I’ll give them a call tomorrow.
