Found this on Reddit, it's too good not to share.

archive.org/details/@musicfan100 - searchable full catalogues

dev.argosbookofdreams.co.uk/ - less searchable but cool interface

Wow, it really takes you back to look at them!! Brings back so many memories!! (and, I am a bit shocked at how expensive things were 20+ years ago!).

All I ever wanted was one of those huge multi diamond rings. Each diamond was about the size of a pinhead. Classy Blush.

Grumpymum789 · 03/08/2020 13:48

megletthesecond yes me too, along with a large princess diana style sapphire ring 😁

PrincessHoneysuckle · 03/08/2020 14:22

I remember the 1988 one Smile

Watermelontea · 03/08/2020 14:37

All I kept thinking going through the first few pages was ‘Christ, gold was cheap back then!’ Even with inflation making it roughly double the 94/95 price, it’s quite a bit cheaper.

Gulpingcoffee · 03/08/2020 14:48

Thanks for this! For years I’ve been thinking about a toy my sibling and I had as a child. Couldn’t remember the name. Anyway I found it in the mid 80s catalogues!

missbunnyrabbit · 03/08/2020 15:11

Amazing! Thank you...

GertrudeKerfuffle · 03/08/2020 18:05

I came across this the other day and had a wallow in nostalgia. Even the bloody covers look so familiar, not to mention all the crap stuff inside that my parents filled the house withGrin Thanks OP!

GertrudeKerfuffle · 03/08/2020 18:07

@QueenArseClangers

worldofcrap.co.uk/tag/index/

My favourite blog often has articles on 80s Argos and Index pages.

Also this is amazing, thanks QueenAC. I may now have a new favourite blog Grin
Snooks1971 · 03/08/2020 20:09

Bloody brilliant. Thank you OP!! Issue year 81/82 has Soda Streams and budgie cages on the same page Confused

Pizzapromotion · 03/08/2020 20:14

I was sad to hear this news. DS1 (now 19yo, with A Levels) loved the Argos book. He was quite late to talk and we spent ages going through saying "kettle" "table" etc. Somehow he preferred this to normal picture books.

Then when he did eventually speak his first word came when he shouted out "Argos", having spotted the logo on the side of a lorry Grin

I love this. 🤣

FreshfieldsGal · 03/08/2020 21:07

Love this, thank you op.
I remember thinking I was ever so stylish when I got a gold 4 bar gate bracelet from there on my 13th birthday 🤣 back in the 80s.

I'll have a good scout through these now. Happy Times.

FreshfieldsGal · 03/08/2020 21:11

Also remember having this Carmen hairdryer when I had my hair permed. Nearly 30 years ago!!!

Looking through the Barbies, dolls prams and so on, it strikes me how non-pink they are. Nowadays, every bloody thing aimed at little girls is pink.

VaggieMight · 03/08/2020 21:39

This is wonderful thank you. I can remember looking through the toys, especially the Barbies

transformandriseup · 03/08/2020 21:58

I can picture the 1999 one sat on my Nan's kitchen table.

WokusPocus · 03/08/2020 22:05

The one thing guaranteed to keep me quiet when I was little was to give me a pair of scissors and an Argos catalogue. I would turn to the jewellery pages and cut out all the 'diamond' rings and bracelets. I still love sparkly things!

sanityisamyth · 03/08/2020 22:11

@BitOfFun

Amazing! I'll send it to my brother- he used to memorise the item numbers to list them in his letters to Father Christmas Grin.

My DS does the modern day equivalent with amazon!! He has a wish list set up and saves things he likes to it and then whittles it down to one for his Santa present!

EggBoxes · 03/08/2020 22:29

It always amazed me that Argos didn’t capture the market that Amazon did.

TinyMetalBirds · 03/08/2020 22:33

@Grumpymum789

megletthesecond yes me too, along with a large princess diana style sapphire ring 😁
I absolutely loved looking at all the rings, and yes, the sapphire ones with diamonds all round were my favourites. My actual engagement ring could not be more different Grin
Pleatherandlace · 03/08/2020 22:40

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze
You’ve just listed all the toys I ever wanted (and never got!)

Delbelleber · 03/08/2020 22:46

Thanks for sharing.

Ernieshere · 03/08/2020 22:47

I randomly picked a catalogue and a page number and got a Sony Walkman Smile

MrsGoggings85 · 03/08/2020 22:51

1st and 2nd link working for me, just took a while to load. Sweet Jesus the nostalgia, looking through this tonight has made me and my oldest friend very happy, so many memories!

Ernieshere · 03/08/2020 22:53

£300 for a sunbed (UV)

I saw a care bear duvet cover & it made me tear up. I think this is a bit too raw for me. Maybe I will look when Im not tired.
Its quite upsetting (rubbish childhood) Sad
