Not a reasonable adjustment

Basically I have been diagnosed with a chronic illness that lead to me having quite a bit of time off work prior to being diagnosed and starting treatment (treatment is going really well and I'm much better!)
I used to work stupid hours 12hr shifts, 5 days (nights included) on 3 off and be comfortable in my wage.
I was giving one option of reasonable adjustment of part time hours by my employers which has lead me to losing half of my pay.
Now I'm in a stronger mindset and much better, I'm wondering AIBU thinking this isn't fair? Their reasonable adjustment is making financially vulnerable.

Any reasonable adjustment must also work for the business, that's what makes it "reasonable", although there is no definition of reasonable, naturally.

If you can argue different hours are reasonable, you might be able to negotiate that but any reduction in hours would reasonably come with the associated pay cut.

Is there a different reasonable adjustment that would enable you to do your old hours?

Have you spoken to your company’s HR regarding your situation? Maybe you need to involve Occupational Therapy ? It might be worth a chat with your union too.

Ultimately they want you to be able to work effectively if you can't cope on your previous hours structure this is a fair compromise

I dont think it would be considered reasonable to be paid for hours you dont work. It may be reasonable to work full time hours on a rota that is easier for you to cope with, if the business can support that.

Absolutely agree and I wouldn't expect to be paid for hours I don't do.
I guess my issue is it was half hours or threats of disciplinary if I didn't take that. Nothing in between, ie drop one or two shifts a week. Well to be honest, I was also told if I had any more time off after my reasonable adjustment I'd move up the disciplinary stages faster!!!!
