I have absolutely no memories until the age of about 9 or 10. Even memories I have of that age are few and far between.

My nan always tells me stories of ‘when I was 3 my mum blah blah...’ she thinks there’s something wrong with me I don’t remember anything?!

YABU - I have memories from a young age 3,4,5...

YANBU - I cant remember much, if anything from childhood.

Not really an AIBU, but generally intrigued.

I remember being a baby. I remember lying in my cot and hearing cars going up and down the street and their headlights lighting up the room. It’s weird as I somehow knew what cars were. I also remember the hedgehog wallpaper on the walls. My parents changed that when I was not yet 1 so I know it’s not a false memory.

Interesting, I remember watching headlights go past my window, but I didn't work out that they were cars for a very long time - I was at school when I realised, although must have been younger than six. Because then the puzzle to me was how come the car went from left to right (judging by the direction of the sound) but the headlight beam would go from right to left. I didn't work that out before I left that bedroom, when I would have been 6/7.

With hedgehog wallpaper, that kind of thing is tricky because you might have simply seen a picture of you as a baby in that room and the wallpaper was familiar because of that picture.

However I know I can remember the bunk beds in the room I shared with my sister, partly because of a picture, but I also remember the sound that the springs made when you got up or down from the top bunk. I remember my dad putting foam pipe insulation on the bottom of the edge, which was quite sharp, and I remember lying on the bottom bunk pushing my feet up between the springs, and how it felt to do that - and those things wouldn't have been in any picture.

Odd bits and pieces but nothing really until I'm about 10/11 and even then it's hazy

Dh and I both had happy stable upbringings. I have isolated memories from age 3-4, then very clear memories from age 5 onwards. His memories start earlier, from age 2-3.

I have a really good long term memory and can remember things as far back as 2 years old...but more vividly from about 4 upwards. I can remember everyone from my primary school, even children who were not there for the whole duration. I think this is pretty unusual though, as one of my close friends from.primary school remembers very little.

My short term memory is not so good though !
