Do you know the original context of this quote:

They whispered to her: You cannot wristband the storm.
She whispered back: I am the storm
?

Wristband! Makes me think of the storm being cross that its session has come to an end at the leisure centre! Grin
No, I don’t know the quote. Is is Halle Berry in X-Men?

Unconquerable · 31/07/2020 09:27

I have no idea. I stumbled about different versions of this quote and have no idea where it comes from.

I don't know the origin. I think its meant to mean be the force in your life that makes things happen rather than being a passive victim of other people? I like the general idea but too twee for me.

HugeAckmansWife · 31/07/2020 09:37

It sounds like something from a Brendan Sanderson novel

Unconquerable · 31/07/2020 09:43

I think that is what it means but I would love to know the original context.

According to Google it seems to be a girl power version of the older one which was a warrior rather than a woman.

But basically Google doesn't know who came up with it.

VettiyaIruken · 31/07/2020 09:45

The devil whispered "you cannot withstand the storm"
The warrior replied "I am the storm"

VettiyaIruken · 31/07/2020 09:49

I think it is based on a Bible verse about standing up to the devil and wearing armour to defeat him.

CorianderLord · 31/07/2020 09:50

Widely attributed to Ghengis Khan isn't it?

CorianderLord · 31/07/2020 09:51

@HugeAckmansWife omg it does sound like Way of Kings. But it's not. Love hat book bough

CorianderLord · 31/07/2020 09:52

Basically OP, nobody knows because it's origins are unknown. Sorry.

Credz · 30/08/2020 03:09

Try Dalai Lama. Hmm

longwayoff · 30/08/2020 07:44

Barbara Cartland? Ugh.

Manolin · 30/08/2020 08:03

Don't know of the original context but your first post reminded me of Botticelli's famous painting.
