Family member travelling abroad then visiting our family

I'm wondering if IABU. I have a family member who has been unable to visit us and my parents (in thier early 70s) since lockdown. It's a long awaited visit that we are all excited about. They've just told me they are heading abroad for a few days last minute. They visit us 2 days after they return.
I really want to see them but I cant believe they have chosen to go abroad just before they visit my (although not elderly but older) parents.

If they had gone for a few days in the UK I wouldnt have thought anything of it. It's the flights that make me anxious, enclosed space for prolonged times just seems too much of a risk to me. I've mentioned it to a couple of people and they are also surprised.

We live in a semi rural area with very little infection rate.
Am I being unreasonable in thinking that I dont want them to come?

Depends where "abroad" is.
Vietnam?
Iceland?
They've not visited you during the past months because it's not been allowed presumably?
They're going abroad because it is.

Hi, yes it's a country that isn't in the quarantine list, absolutely allowed to go.

They will be camping in the garden using one bathroom specifically for them.
I have no problem with them choosing to go abroad. It's the fact they have decided to do it days before staying with us. I guess.

I'd feel the same. It isn't just the plane, it's the airport as well. They need to stay distanced from your parents. It sounds as though they can, but they are being slightly selfish.

Ponoka7, thanks. It's feeling awkward. I'm flitting between the risk is low why am I worrying? and why are they adding risk when its risky enough?

Can you tell them that youd rather postpone the visit by a week or so to reduce risks when they return

There is Covid in the U.K too. The plane has an air filtering system which sanitises the air every few minutes so safer than the tube or a bus. As long as they wear a mask and wash their hands there is no greater risk in an half empty airport than a supermarket.

I think YABU OP. The country they are going to isn't restricted, they have as much chance of catching it going to the local shops.

Thanks for your comments. Totally hear what you are saying! I need to hear the two sides.
