To take my toddler on public transport?

My cars in for a service this weekend. I'd planned to meet my good friend at a National park today. Is it ok to just get the train (3 stops) with my toddler? Am I completely overthinking this?!
If I walk it's a 1.5 hour fast walk/sprint and my toddler won't sit in the pram for more than 20 mins.

Basically friend is coming from totally different direction and can't pick us up.
Am I overthinking this? Pre-covid I'd of gotten the train /bus and not given it a second thought.
Obviously I'd be wearing a mask and I'd put the rain cover over the pram...
Omg the stress of whether or not to take public transport.

I'd do it if I were you, OP. We've been asked to start using public transport again, so why not? Use it or lose it, as they say. I wouldn't put the rain cover on the pram though, in case of overheating. The under fives don't have to wear masks or face coverings, as far as I'm aware.

Of course, why wouldn't you? Anyone can use public transport for any reason now.

I would do it but definitely not the rain cover, it can be very dangerous, same as putting a blanket over

Meanwhile us plebs have had to get public transport throughout this and we've survived.

I’ve seen a few buggy occupants on my local bus so I think there’s a few people who have made the decision it’s okay. Theoretically everyone old enough should be wearing a mask so there’s a layer of protection there for your dc, although I have to admit I’m still wavering over taking 4 year old dd on public transport.

At first glance I though the rain cover was a stroke of genius but PP are right, it would be an overheating issue. You can get snooze shades that fit over the buggy but offer a bit more ventilation but I don’t know if your dc would object to sitting in the dark for a short trip - phone bribery?
