To be worried about how the lock down period will affect my next work performance review

I work in a professional office role so have been wfh since March. I am also a lone parent with no family nearby. I have one older DC who does not need childcare as such but still requires some of my attention (possible ASD/ADHD). I have been getting work done but I know I am not as efficient as normal and it’s more getting the essentials done rather than done a brilliant job. Among my colleagues I am not aware of anyone in the same position as it’s mostly men with stay at home wives, women with no DC, or a few women with children who have been sharing the load with their partners. I am really worried this is going to impact my next performance appraisal.

There is not much I can do about this but I wondered if anyone else has similar concerns.

I'd speak to your manager about it. Surely they'll take it into account?

I don’t think so. Back in March they did say people could work more flexibly etc but for me the reality is that no matter how “flexible” things are I still have a lot on my plate and can’t be as effective as I am usually.
