I googled this and can't find much clarity...
I was just walking through town and was approached by two men wearing plain black t-shirts and lanyards which I couldn't really see.
They were holding plastic charity style wristbands. Each in turn said to me, hello madam, today we are raising awareness of mental health.
It struck me as a weird statement because you wouldn't say, I'm raising awareness of physical health, would you?
Anyway I said no thanks, as I don't have a job and have enough mental health issues that I'm fully aware already- perhaps I missed the point.
But aibu to wonder what charity this was for ? I popped into boots, thought about just that for a minute then came straight back out hoping to ask what charity they were representing, but they were gone.
Does anyone on here know perhaps?
Would they necessarily be for charity?
Should they be for charity? Or is it just a couple of blokes selling accessories and then it's down to the wearer to flaunt it a bit to start conversations with their friends. Though I never ask people what their wristbands mean I assume they've done good by buying them from a charity.
When I googled the wristbands I found somebody selling them on ebay. I have no idea if that would be for charity.
If I see them again, and I ask them, if it turns out they aren't from a charity, what would you do? It really felt like they WERE raising money for charity the way they were approaching people.
If I were to buy one it would be to support a real charity - I wouldn't really want to just get it as an accessory.
I know iabu not to have asked them but I will when I next see them.
Thank you! Xx
