Does eczema feel hot to the touch?

My scalp (on my hair parting) is looking quite red. It gets itchy now and again but also feel hot to the touch. Hairdresser suggested it may be eczema but would that feel hot to the touch? It’s only on my parting and no where else.

I get eczema which sometimes feels hotter than the rest of my skin.

Without knowing more it could also be an allergic reaction to hair products or anything else. Best bet would be to visit you gp and get them to take a look. They'll be able to give you something to treat it as well.

Yeah I think I will see the GP (if they’ll see me as not really doing face to face appointments at the mo!) I’m a little concerned as to why it’s on my parting only. I have been sunburned there in the past so I’m worrying a little that it’s something worse but as it’s just red, hot and itchy occasionally I’m hoping it’s a reaction to something or a bit of eczema.

My psoriasis does. It’s bizarre.

My eczema feels hot to the touch. Holding something cool and dry against it feels lovely.

Thanks. I think the heat has possibly gone now but still so itchy and red. Will book an appointment on Monday if I can. Will try some e45 cream in the time being. However I think I Will just apply that at night as I will look so greasy otherwise.

Heat hasn’t gone as feels hot again today and husband says still pinkish. However I think it feels the same sort of heat as the rest of my scalp. Really itchy. Just really aware of it. Hopefully GP can see me this week.

Could it be sunburn? My husband had similar after a couple of hot days.

I have a dry scalp that sometimes feels hot to touch.

No it’s not sunburn. I remember in November mentioning it to the hairdresser and she said it was red and dry but it must have gone away / not been itchy until now. I did put an ice pack on it earlier and that soothes it a bit. Just a bit worried that it’s on my parting - which is where the sun always hits and makes me worry about skin cancer.

mine does if it gets angry.
what hair products do you use? do you use a harsh brush?
I can't use dry schampoo, makes me itchy. nor a scratchy brush. conditioner never near skin, only on hair ends.

Tinyhumansurvivalist · 02/08/2020 19:47

yes eczema can create heat, especially of there is a low level infection within it (dd has acute chronic eczema and is now chemo to help).

@SpringSunshineandTulips you are probably aware but if not, stop using any harsh shampoo and conditioner as they can be a trigger and make the inflammation worse. Even Johnson baby shampoo is a swine. Sanex works well or t gel, don't use anything like anti dandruff shampoo as it can aggrivate it.

Eumovate do a body wash that you can use on your hair too.

Avoid styling products and hair dryers if you can til it clears.

Now I was wondering about dry shampoo. Over lockdown I was washing it less which means more dry shampoo and it does feel worse on the days it isn’t washed. I haven’t used it for a week or so and will give it a bit longer to see if that’s it.
