Taking me 2.5 year old anywhere? Had a great day planned but no he cried, punched, strached me so we leave early. 15 quid down the drain when he just wants to watch the tv

Unfortunately, the ''terrible two's'' are not called that for nothing Sad

I often found that unless I enlisted their help to plan and prepare for a day out, their behaviour was often what ruined a nice day out Sad

Surprises were a 'no no' for my kids, as they usually went badly, but if given some choices and allowed to have a say in where we went ( obviously suitable choices like for a picnic/ play area/ play date / zoo etc) and a day and time (e.g Saturday at 10am leaving), then they were very well behaved and helped plan and make snacks, drinks and packed lunches etc.

I think they just did not cope well with not knowing in advance what our plans were.

Agree with the above, terrible twos are a bloody nightmare.

Free events, Membership places ie national trust where it doesn't 'costs you if you have to walk away are probably best at this time.

Equally, make sure he has had enough sleep, dd was significantly worse if she was tired. We tried to so things early morning or if it required travel timing travel with her nap times so she would sleep on the way there and wake up in a good mood

Ugh I tried to go for a nice stroll with my 16 month old and friend and her 1 year old. He was a nightmare, made the mistake of taking him out of his pram and ended up having to pick him up loads whilst 7 months pregnant. I had my husband pick me up and ended up spending the evening on the sofa because my stomach was so sore. I think it's an age where they just need those soft play areas to be let loose and go mad! (When will they open again? Confused)

Yeah I always like to get him out but sometimes I think he may want to chill in the house. I don't want him to be the kid who just watches tv though at home

The occasional chill out day nevwr hurts @Dancingonmylonesome

I've been dying with food posioning for the last 2 weeks and still signed off work (& bored to tears) so dd is currently curled up in her bed with the cat watching YouTube shite. It won't kill her! Dp had her out over the weekend for me and I am hoping i am better for this weekend cos I am going stir crazy!
