Good friend with more money than me but she's very astute with cash. Her husband buys top quality branded stuff but she's not bothered. I've bought her fancy make up in the past, mugs, jewellery, scarves and a bit out of ideas now. She loves cooking so maybe an amazing cook book? Or something kitchen gadget. Around £25 budget. Or anything else? She's a keen painter and loves travel but that's curtailed with kids. Help please. You'll think of something I'm sure Smile

A cook book sounds good. What kind of food does she like? What travelling has she done? Maybe a cook book of food from one of her favourite destinations?

Presents related to hobbies are always nice - I crochet and if someone gave me a nice yarn selection I’d be over the moon. Maybe some nice paint brushes? Some canvases?

Suze1621 · 27/07/2020 11:12

Try searching Art cook books - depending in the type of painting/art she likes you might find the perfect combination.

She is an excellent cook and I've had all kinds of cuisines there. She's good at curry/ spice driven foods and seems to make Moroccan/ Indian/ Greek a lot. I'm sure I had a great cookbook recommended a while back but more for brilliant day to day- Fay Ripley?

Yotam Ottolenghi? Classy, adventurous and a nice coffee table style cookbook.

Maybe wrapped along with one or two of the more unusual spices/ ingredients they he uses

I don't think she'd have time for fancy stuff from the coffee table one sadly and she hates stuff not bring useful

I’ve got my eye on these cook books. Never used the site or seen them in person though www.lowplex.com/products/sabrina-ghayour-3-books-collection-setpersiana-bazaar-feasts?_pos=2&_sid=2e900911f&_ss=r

The cook book that immediately comes to mind is something like Claudia Roden's Arabesque - it's the classic for Moroccan/middle eastern food, and is superb.

polkadotpjs · 27/07/2020 18:57

Ooh I like the look of that Claudia one. Maybe with some nice spices - what spices then do I need. Stuff like rose Harrisa paste, rascal hanout or more weird and wonderful ?

You could get her something personalised like a recipe book or art book she can add to, or maybe a classy printed apron/oven mit set for cooking? Have a look somewhere online like ‘Not on the highstreet’ or ‘Etsy’
