To ask if you can see a difference (weight loss)

Hi all. Name changed for this.

Following the birth of my DD 18 months ago I piled a fair bit of weight on. Two stone, to be exact. I actually didn't gain much weight during the pregnancy, most of that two stone came on after she was born! My own fault, eating rubbish and being lazy.

Finally in January I had had enough of my clothes not fitting and being unhappy, so I started trying to lose weight. Since then I've gone from 12 stone to 10 stone 5 and from a size 14 to a size 10/12. The weight loss has plateaued a little due to COVID and the gym being shut, but luckily I haven't gained any weight back!

I'm almost back to my pre pregnancy weight, and yet I still sometimes feel like I don't look that much different? I still think I could do with losing more off of my belly and I still worry my waist is too thick. I don't know if it's just low confidence and I'm being too hard on myself. I know that my body will never be quite the same as it was pre pregnancy, and I suppose most of us would like to be thinner!

Can any of you see a difference? The first pic was taken the day I started my new lifestyle. I was 12st exactly. The other pic was taken yesterday at 10st 5. I'm 5'7".

Thank you 😊

Definite difference. Body shape changes for many of us after carrying children. I have gone back to a flat stomach (after years of trying) but my waist remains wide if you’re looking straight on. It will never again curve in at the sides the way it used to. Well done, you look greatSmile

Definite difference! You look amazing 🙂

Thank you all! It's definitely hard to tell sometimes if you've lost weight just by looking, especially if it's gradual. I'm still not exactly at the weight I want to be, but I'm getting there! Smile

Yes, there's definitely a difference! You look really good and I think a lot of people would stop there, but maybe keep going a little bit for your own health and once you tone up a bit you'll be even more pleased.

I think I gave up at that stage after having my kids as it's only round my middle that I really put the weight on, and now in middle age I just can't lose it so feel I've left it too late.

@CurlyhairedAssassin thank you! I definitely want to tone up a little more! Never too late to lose weight. Smile

@PeddlingInTheRain haha, I was a complete exercise-phobe until January, but now I really enjoy it!

OP you look great - well done. I agree with SeriouslyRetro - it’s your posture - you have a hollow back which makes your thin tummy look rounder. I’d do some yoga/ballet/Pilates to flatten your spine. Congrats!
