Baffled by selfish NDN or have a wasted my life being too conscientious....

They've been blasting music in their garden since 4pm. Highly residential area, narrow terraces and gardens in our row back onto other peoples gardens too. Far louder than it needs to be for them to hear it. Even with all my doors shut in the furthest room from the garden the base is pumping through.

Polite text to ask to turn it down was answered 'we are in the garden'. Now I wasn't great at physics but as far as I can recall they've yet to invent a sound proof 5ft wooden fence post.

I just wouldn't even dream of ruining all my neighbours Saturday afternoons by thinking they also all want to hear my 'music'.

How do people get like this or am I too conscientious of my neighbours?

We live in flats. We go to work stupid early, 5am. Our neighbour plays stupid pop music until 1am. So we get a small pebble and some sellotape and stick it over his buzzer at 5 am so that it continually rings, and walk nonchalantly away.

Irked123 · 25/07/2020 21:09

Good god they've started karaoke now. So it's not just shit music it's tone deaf wailing, full on into a microphone. Connected to LOUD speakers.
I will definitely be making some noise at 6am tomorrow. Thanks for the tips!

Karaoke?
Brass them. Ruin them😁 Now I fancy beer

I started a thread this week about neighbours teen son & friends outside all day shouting, swearing, generally bring nuisances in the front street for 7 hrs a day. They took to playing loud music yesterday, it’s awful. Theres just a lot of inconsiderate bastards around.

jessstan2 · 25/07/2020 21:19

Is it a one off, Irked? If they are not constantly doing it, I wouldn't worry. People two doors down do it occasionally, on birthdays. It was quite early when you first posted, I'd understand if it was 3am.

Play the tellytubbies theme tune over and over again

Oooh. Or Happy Tree Friends to warn about what's coming😂
LakieLady · 25/07/2020 21:30

Wagner's Ring Cycle, very loud. All 17 hours of it.

If you start now, it should just about be finishing when they sit down for Sunday lunch.

@Irked123

I empathise. Hugely.
Since Lockdown eased, a people at a house in another road has taken to BAND PRACTICE in the *&!! street every Friday evening.

The bass and drums is just not ''tight'' enough, and it is far too loud and bloody annoying.

If it was a really tight band, it wouldn't be so bad...but listening to amateurs rehearse is just irritating as they lag behind each other.

Drums and bass have to follow each other and be in perfect time...

I'd not complain if this band played every Friday
{live not studio}

TheNestedIf · 25/07/2020 21:59

I've always thought a soundtrack of birdsong turned all the way up to 11 would be most appropriate. And if they ask what the fuck is going on, you can legitimately shout back "TITS!"

AngryBananaSund · 25/07/2020 22:01

Use shazam (or similar) to work out what album they are playing, then use Spotify to play the same album...but a few seconds out phase so whatever they play has a weird echo

Shizzlestix · 25/07/2020 22:04

Honest to goodness, this should be against the law, it drives me potty. The neighbour behind occasionally had loads of people round and there was invariably loud music for the whole evening til the early hours. He’s sold up, I’m terrified the new neighbours will be loud. It’s really quiet round here usually.

Harrietsferrets · 25/07/2020 22:11

There is an opera 'singer' called Florence Foster-Jenkins. Her singing is.........questionable.

Soph88888 · 25/07/2020 22:19

Wow it was 7pm?
I'd wait until 11pm if still going on then make a complaint.......

BMW6 · 25/07/2020 22:24

Max Bygraves "Pink Toothbrush" is what you need OP. Start around 7am.
Or any bagpipe "music"

Figmentofimagination · 25/07/2020 22:32

I'm currently cursing my NDNs who have set up a gazebo in their back garden today. They've had people coming over since 4pm and are still going strong. Think their playing drinking games at the moment from the amount of hollers and cheers I can hear.
I'm praying they don't wake my son up as he sleeps at the back of the house along the adjoining wall. But I won't be telling him to keep quiet tomorrow when he wakes up around 6:30am like I usually do.
I'm already pissed off at them for the smell of cigarette smoke that filled his bedroom from their guests earlier.

BillBaileysBum · 25/07/2020 22:37

LOVING the pebble and sellotape idea Grin

Ontheboardwalk · 25/07/2020 22:39

OP you’ve said they’ve done this at least once before. How often do they do this?

islandislandisland · 25/07/2020 22:45

I used to have a wonderful CD called 'panpipes for lovers', nothing like a bit of piped Celine first thing...

AllsortsofAwkward · 25/07/2020 22:47

We have a neighbour like this with the base on during the day and in the night. They also leave their dog unattended which constantly barks ive contacted enivornamal health about the barking and the nose at 2 with base. Its awful during the day, we shouldn't have to listen to their awful music and should be able to go around our home without feeling like the house is shaking, was worse when my little girl couldn't even nap because it felt like it was coming through the walls. Went to knock and he couldnt hear. I told our neighbour the mother and she just looked at me. Some people are selfish twants.
