Just that, really. I am desperate to get my flabby self to the gym, but they aren't open yet where I am.

Went really well. Lined up outside, gave them my booking and went in. My gym limits vists to a one hour slot so not really long enough but I will take what I can get. Felt so good to be back.

Took the dog round Hyde Park on the penultimate C25K run then went to Pilates this am - great to get back in the studio and nice to see everyone again although the class sizes are reduced and book only . Then had a blowdry so feeling good .
Arrived home to find DP watching Crazy Birds lol ( no small children in the house )

Well ours has gone bust, so...

I am lucky and have been able to do PT sessions outside the gym for the last couple of months at least which has helped, I lost so much fitness in the first few months!

I am going to the gym tomorrow but having seen what they have put in place and how they have managed things so far I have no worries about going. They only have 16 people max in there at the moment over two floors

I'm looking forward to going back to my gym when it reopens on Monday. I desperately need to get fit again. They are limiting numbers, so you have to book a slot in advance on either an ongoing or weekly basis, the changing rooms are not in use and they will be taking temperatures etc on arrival. Also lots of extra cleaning in place.

DH and I had a joint PT session this morning which was great.

We have been trying to do it remotely at home during lockdown but it was a poor substitute really. I was sick of bands and a few light dumbells and really ready to deadlift a heavy barbell.
Plus I like getting out of the house to workout. It's kind of a treat for me.

I am not very scared of coronavirus so I don't care too much but the social distancing was a bit iffy I'd say. They had squares marked out but it felt quite close when someone is breathing heavily next to you. They were great about enforcing wiping stuff down etc. PT had to demonstrate without any equipment to avoid sharing which looked a bit silly and can not touch you but I am happier with verbal feedback anyway.

We did lower weights higher reps stuff to ease back in but I feel I haven't lost too much fitness as I did keep up 2x week at home. Did not go near the scales or the body fat monitor though. Not sure I want to know.

It was great! I walked to the kitchen to make a cheese toastie and then all the way up the stairs to get back into bed. Lovely.

RhianFuckingMorris · 25/07/2020 14:54

Sweaty and fucking hard going. Didn't enjoy it one bit.

Thanks for all the info. I hope gyms open here soon (I am in Wales). I am worried a little bit about going back, but it seems gyms are taking measures to be safe.

The small gym where I train has been open for a few weeks.

The two bigger ones opened today; I was on the doorstep at 8am Smile. I trained at one and stuck my head round the door of the other to check out the protocol. Basically they:

  • have a one way system in place

  • have closed off some of the machines to enable distancing

  • ask you to wipe down the machines/weights after use.

It was busy but all very civilised. No problems at all here in God's Own Country Smile

Tbh the local Tesco's have removed the one way system and the one long pay queue for the tills, so today's gym visit and quick shop after almost felt like old times.

Everyone was compliant, wiping down machines with the spray provided, leaving once their hour was up etc. I went first thing to cut down the chances of catching it but I will take my chances. I have more slots booked, including tomorrow and Monday.

At my gym you can only book one week in advance.

Fluffymulletstyle · 25/07/2020 19:30

I used the pool, it was divine! Staff said it had been quiet so far ( lunchtime) all well set up. I felt like there is more risk at the supermarket tbh and I feel so much better for swimming.

sociallydistained · 25/07/2020 19:33

I'm gutted mine is only offering 60 min sessions of which we have to plan shower into this. I have frozen my account until September with a hope they will extend to 90 mins as I will need the shower before work but need to allow 30 mins for that really.

You can see how many members are in our club at any time which is good.

Sirzy · 26/07/2020 09:19

I have just been to the gym and it was lovely. Whole place to myself. In theory hour slots but I was told unless the next slot is full you can stay as long as you want.
