Terrified of mmr vaccinations

Hi
My twins are due mmr vaccinations in a few weeks and I’m terrified
They had bad reactions to previous vaccinations with very high temperatures and were sick for weeks
I’m crying writing this as I’m so scared
My doctor just fobbed me off
She was very rude

they may cause some mild side effects in a small number of children (not many) but that is still far more preferable to actually getting (and spreading) those awful diseases.

This is not true, reactions can be horrible though shortlived illnesses and some reactions can be life changing and severe hence even the government have a vaccine damage fund.

This type of rhetoric is not truthful and the full truth should be given to allow all parents to agree to vaccination.

This constant barrage of basically saying "stop being silly, just do it" puts off a lot of parents who would otherwise vaccinate as like the op says the Dr fobbed her off.

My Dr fobbed me off so I read about it decided vaccination was overall good but that I didn't fully agree with the ages it was given so varied the schedule. Something that after speaking to other doctors about, quite a few doctors vary the schedule for their own dc.

Remember that vaccinations are for the greater good and the schedule is as much about large scale financial efficiency as much as it is about efficacy..

So find a doctor that discusses things with you properly. The reaction may be something that you do need to worry about so discuss with a sensible helpful doctor. It is likely nothing to worry about but your concerns should not just be quickly dismissed out of hand.

If your DH is away a lot @Rosiebelle17, can you arrange the vaccinations for a time he will be around?

Rosiebelle17 · 26/07/2020 19:57

Hi yes I hope my husband will be there on the day of the vaccinations
However I understand with the mmr reaction can be anytime in a 3/4 week period which is why I’m so anxious, and unfortunately the past reactions were by different baby at different times , one reacted during the day and the other at night while the other baby was asleep
So hard then to go to the doctor during the night as I had to wake the sleepy baby

Could you arrange for him to be at home for a couple of weeks around the time of the vaccinations then, at night time at least, or using Annual Leave if needs be?

Hi Rodiebelle
I don’t want to share my experience because often in these cases, people who have a different opinion to the majority are accused of scaremongering. I also dint want to influence your decision which should be mad efor your child individually and via your own research. I hope you understand
