Out of date food

Hello, I’m not even sure if this should be in AIBU but something happened today and I’m sitting here thinking should I complain?
I parked at supermarket near work and had 40 minS so I grabbed snacks for lunch including a pack of turkey slices and was in the car eating quickly before a meeting at one. I was daydreaming and looked at the pack and noticed it was a day out of date. I went right in and the manager was there and he just said ‘ oh sorry here’s a five pound voucher’
That was it. Now i have three stomach ulcers so I get stomach aches but tonight i feel more Worried although I’m sure it’s fine. Girl at customer service said, it’s fine a day out of date won’t hurt you.
Shall I forget It and be more responsible checking next time or should I call and report to someone . Am I being unreasonable to think they should have been a bit more sorry, proactive in doing something to help, offering me a sandwich for lunch? 😗. It was like this happens every day!

You could have bought a sandwich with the voucher?
Seriously, you would have known if it was off from the smell. I've eaten plenty of stuff after the use by date. It won't hurt you. You would know by now if you had food poisoning. I got it within two hours of eating.

curlymom · 22/07/2020 22:49

Yes I know it’s probably fine. Apparently the voucher doesn’t work for 24 hours and I left my bag in the car in my haste so lunch didn’t happen

It was a mistake it happens. They apologised and compensated.

My dd regularly brings home same date sandwiches including meat. We eat them the next days lunch with no problem. Food doesn't go off at exactly midnight on the use by date, if it smells and looks fine a few hours aftef use by it'll probably be OK.

I don’t care about dates on food. You can generally work it out.
One day, who cares! Several days, it depends on what the food is. Use your nose!

I get that too. Mine often goes off before the date and gets thrown out. 😂

It happens. Easy to miss one especially with people moving stuff around all the time.

As ling as you are not sick, leave it.

True, and I always check the date on the pack. I just thought today was the 21st. Lockdown has messed with my internal calendar

But you did complain. You took it back and got a £5 voucher. What else do you expect them to do?

Confused
