Covid Test for Greece

Posting for traffic!

If anyone has been (or is going) to Greece, was (is) a covid test (within 72 hours before travel) still required?

I've been researching and I'm unclear if it is still is. I know a PLF is required and there may be possible spot-testing/self-isolation at the port of entry.

Thanks!

I am in Greece now. There is no requirement to get a test beforehand. You have to fill out an online form before you travel giving your address in Greece and it generates a QR code which you show at arrivals. Some passengers are then selected for testing at that point and then asked to self isolate at their destination for 24 hours (unless it is positive in which case they will be in touch and quarantine you for 14 days). If you are not selected for the test you just leave the airport and begin your holiday as normal.

The Greek government recommends you download the Visit Greece app which has the most up to date information.

I'm pretty sure it isn't. It is virtually impossible to get one done in the UK anyway within the time limit.

Thanks, rainy.
How are things there? Do you mind saying where (area) you are? I'm well aware about masks, etc.

It is lovely and very normal. We are self catering so don't know how things feel in a resort but for us the only difference is remembering to have a mask in the bag for supermarket trips. Restaurants are all open - staff wear masks but other than that it feels the same. All the shops are also open and people seem relaxed and welcoming. There are noticeably fewer foreign tourists around and the beaches are quiet for July, which is great for us. I was worried about coming (we booked the holiday before Christmas or I wouldn't have travelled) but I'm glad we did

Have to say I was very impressed how smoothly they handled immigration and screening (we weren't tested so don't know what that part is like).

That's reassuring and does, indeed, sound wonderful.:)

You can get them done. It costs about £165 - it's the pcr test (nucleic acid test) and it'll be posted to your home and you send it to the lab. It takes about 3-5 days depending on the postage you pay for to get results.

Other options are the blood tests but that's mostly private clinics like bupa offering it for £65-90

You can get them done, but not in time to be usable. 2-5 days is too long when the requirement is/was a certified negative test within 72 hours of landing.

From next month Cyprus will have the same requirement. It is five hours in the air just to get to Cyprus, another five getting to the airport, leaving window of just two and a half days to get a test and a certified negative result. The only places I have found that say they can guarantee that are in Harley Street and you have to go there in person and pay them £250 a head.

3-5 days is too long
