Fire burning in back garden

AIBU to think that someone who burns fires in their back garden most nights of the week, for no other reason than to burn a fire (probably to disguise the smell of the marijuana he smokes in his shed), in a residential densely populated area with gardens all attached to each other is a supremely entitled and selfish individual?

I have a tolerance for barbecues etc, but isn't burning a fire most evenings all evening supremely anti-social?

He's 2 houses away from me. I'd really like to be able to have my back doors open in warmer weather without my house smelling of his smoke!!

Have you asked him not to? Some people weren't raised to think about others and it genuinely doesn't occur to them that their actions effect others. He sounds like a selfish twat.

Our council has bylaws about what hours and months you can light a bonfire, it might be worth checking.

Bonfires are not allowed when they are a nuisance. I would report it, maybe a fine will teach him a well needed lesson.

Thanks, yes I called to him over the fence (politely) a couple of weeks ago as there was visible smoke wafting over my garden, and told him, he just muttered 'sorry'. But it didn't stop him, several nights of fire since, I went out again a few nights ago and told him (again politely) that I thought continually setting fires in a residential area was not on, he just looked at me. Still he sets the fires, one tonight again Angry

Why not ask your local fire station to come and see if they think the fire is safe and ok? Remember though if he is told it is he will prob have more. Maybe ask him to have the fire later in the night after 9.30 pm?
