Wrapping paper!

Hello!

Is wrapping paper something that any of you would pay good money for? Is it important to you? Does it matter if something is beautifully wrapped or is it more of an inconvenience to buy and just pick up the cheapest sheet/roll you can find?

My partner thinks it's a massive pain in the arse, but I think it just makes a gift if it's beautifully wrapped!

Who's right?

I love wrapping and it doesn't have to be expensive. You can do a great wrap with cheaper paper. Just takes a bit of imagination.

You are right, OP.

Wrapping is all about the act of gift giving - all thought and anticipation and time.

We could all buy our own chocolate bars. It’s the wrap that distinguishes it and makes it a gift.

I think this is a personal choice. I go for the cheapest. It just gets ripped off and thrown in the bin

I love wrapping presents beautifully & so does my mum (totally inherited from her). Her gift wrapping ALWAYS gets complimented because it’s so stunning. She wraps without sellotape (I am not this advanced 😂) and uses ribbons - this means the paper can be reused as can the ribbons. We both have little jars of ribbons to use and she has loads of wrapping paper. She also has loads of old present labels that she reclaims from the giftee & reuses!

I’m not someone who wraps up a present beautifully but I do pride myself in being able to wrap any shape gift. My personal best was a Scottie dog shaped biscuit tin that looked like a Scottie dog even when wrapped.

I love wrapping things and gift giving is a joy for me. I get the environmental impact isn’t great but I can’t stand the thought of presents wrapped in cloth. Ripping the paper is part of the joy for me.

I think it's wasteful and I just use secondhand gift bags to hand things over in. My sister uses cloths to wrap things in which people then give back to her.

You are right. You can’t buy a really lovely gift and wrap it in newspaper for example. Lol.
