Just that. Have time off work at end August, and am v tempted to book Greece, or Mallorca/ Menorca..... anyone think that’s reasonable, or is this just crazy talk! Anyone there now and think it’s ok?

Personally I think if you go abroad, fantastic, but if they lockdown that country you shouldn't be brought home using government money. You make a choice to go, you should have to fund your own way home if needed.

Just got back from Italy. Quiet flights, quiet city and so warm and lovely.

We are currently away in France and it's been fine.

We came by Eurostar and have used trains and taxis here, though will have car hire later in the fortnight.

Our annual travel insurance has originally said that Covid wouldn't be covered but two days before we travelled an email notified is to say that it is now covered again.

We aren't at a resort type hotel so no resort pool or big all inclusive meals to deal with. Think breakfast at this hotel should have been buffet style but it's now pre order the evening before and you can either eat it in the restaurant or take it to your room.

Masks are being worn inside shops and public parts of the hotels but not outside.

We booked most thinks through booking.com and Eurostar direct. All were booked on the basic pricing but all have the opportunity to cancel or rearrange days/times free of charge, up to 24 hours in advance.

We’ve booked two holidays over the next couple of months, the first going on Saturday. Take a look at TUIs COVID promise, it’s really good.

We've just booked to go to Mallorca, staying in a s/c apt in Palma. Part of me thinks I've taken leave of my senses, but we will be sensible at airport/plane & our R rate is far higher than there. Big risk is local lockdown I guess...

I guess most of us planning trips to Spain won’t be able to go now Sad crossing fingers BA let us change our booking again

Well it’s just been reported in the bbc that the government is to likely announce that anyone retiring from Spain shall have to quarantine for two weeks from tomorrow

There shall be constant changes and no doubt we shall soon be told by our employers (if not already) that even if away and restrictions change you will have to take that time off as unpaid leave or holiday

It’s a risk and of course cancellations of flights before or while there

I would love to go and see family but wouldn’t travel to US at the moment due to I won’t be fully covered by insurance

CheshireDing · 25/07/2020 19:22

Such a shame, I was starting to feel more positive now this from a Spain as of tonight ☹️

We really just all need to get through this coming winter then we will have a much better idea how it is panning out and maybe things can be eased if it’s not too bad.

BubblyBarbara · 25/07/2020 19:29

You can still go. You just have to quarantine on your return

FizzyPink · 25/07/2020 19:34

We can’t. I can wfh easily but DP is self-employed and there’s no way he can sit at home not earning for 2 weeks. He’d lose a hell of a lot of his clients by doing that
