To shout?

Not sure if it's shouting either tbh, but definitely am raising my voice. "Stop it right now!!!" Type thing at my kids 4&5. They get so excited and out of control so quickly. Feel like I'm doing this all the time at the moment and I don't like how it feels.

Is this just standard? Or am I being a shouty mum? My mum was really shouty and I've got a bit of a fear of being the same.

Nothing wrong with raising your voice as long as not shouting and screaming regularly.

But just seen your user name ha ha

Oh god @Busymum45 I didn't even think about that!!!

Screamer by name but not by nature. I definitely don't scream. I don't think I ever have, it just feels like I'm constantly having to raise my voice to get them to listen.

This happens I tend to ask nicely and then get louder after my selectively deaf children choose to ignore me. I worry that I've trained them to only respond to shouting as otherwise it's not important or somesuch.

You could give em a warning shot maybe... start by saying mommy's getting frustrated now... I'm going to count to 5... and your tone gets louder as you go... also if they are shouting at you, supernannys eye level and " tell me in your low tone voice" worked for me... as did the naughty step.. also I would take their hand and make them look at you, walk one away from the other.. mine are 15 months apart and 8 and 9 now
