To ask how to look classy when you’re overweight?

I’ve posted about my weight before, I’m about 2 and a half stone overweight for my height, this is mainly boobs and hips/bum and I have a bit of a belly.
I think I dress well for my shape but I always feel frumpy and, well, fat. Any time I look at a woman and think she looks classy and expensive, she’s always thin. I tend to splurge on designer bags or shoes rather than clothing as I just think, what’s the point, it’ll look crap on me. What’s the secret?.
This is supposed to be light hearted musing btw.

Maybe have three dresses classically tailored, made to measurements, ( linen maybe) and dress them up differently with scarves and blouses and close-fitting long sleeve tops underneath. Lots of brilliant advice on this thread about choosing well-cut clothes and having things altered, so maybe see if a good local dressmaker can make some from scratch expressly suited to your form. I hope this doesn't have to be an expensive service.

Maybe have a look at plus sized fashion bloggers for inspiration?

I think looking classy is a thing you either have or not!

My sister and I wore roughly the same size, about a 20/22 at our biggest. She always looked classy and groomed and stylish. I could wear the same stuff and look like I slept in a skip. I try SO hard and it makes no difference.

I am now size 10, she is a 20 and she still looks better than me so its nothing to do with size. Admittedly I do have more choice of nice clothes nows I am slimmer which has made a difference but to be honest I think it is confidence. She has always had buckets of it and I have none.

I think the two secrets to looking classy is to wear clothes that suit your shape, and clothes in your colour.

I got an analysis by Style by Susie to update me from Trinny and Suzanne days. There’s a Facebook page if you want a taste of what they do with lots of tips and advice. Prior to my analysis, I was a jeans/T-shirt, or black trousers/top for work. This summer I’ve worn dresses most days. Also, buying colours in my colour (autumn), and got a lot more compliments as a result.

Also two stone overweight.
