Vibrating abdomen

IAmFourEels · 20/07/2020 12:40

I posted this in Chat but didn't get any responses so thought I'd see if it got more traffic in AIBU.

For a week now I have been having sporadic feelings and movements in my lower abdomen - like prolonged muscle spasms, which are also like tingles or vibrations, and also some tugging sensations and twinges. I’ve taken a pregnancy test and it was negative. Also I’m still having regular periods and have a copper coil. So it would be a real statistical anomaly if I was pregnant - with BC, periods AND a negative result. Has anyone else felt anything like this, for over a week? Could be digestive issues I suppose, but my diet hasn’t changed and my ‘movements’ are normal!

I realise I should chat to my GP, not internet strangers... But they're doing quite strict phone screening due to Covid and I imagine will not be too interested in investigating - as the sensations are not painful or causing me any issues. So thought I would ask the internet before ringing them!

You haven't recently been to any deserted planets sending out mysterious and ambiguous warnings ?

BringMeTea · 20/07/2020 12:48

Some food intolerances can cause this symptom. I get it if I ingest sulphites.

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 20/07/2020 12:54

It sounds like nothing, maybe a little nerve?

PsuedoSatisfactionBaby · 20/07/2020 12:57

I had this when pregnant...post 6 months when I had a bump...It’s quite a disconcerting feeling!

Nottherealslimshady · 20/07/2020 12:59

Could be your copper coil moving or irritating your uterus, or an infection, I'd talk to the gp about it

Georgieporgie29 · 20/07/2020 14:03

I’ve been having this and have put it down to wind Blush
I’m thinking my diet is probably not as healthy as it should be with lockdown and extra snacks.

Confrontayshunme · 20/07/2020 14:33

I think I know what you mean. I get random times where my stomach just "has a heartbeat" is the only way to describe it. Rhythmic spasms that feel like third trimester baby hiccups but aren't. It apparently has to do with nerves. Nothing sinister as far as I know.

GinDrinker00 · 20/07/2020 15:00

It’s either wind or nerves. You don’t need to see your GP it’s normal.

bravotango · 20/07/2020 15:23

I get the above described nerve thing - sometimes I can even see it! It's like a heartbeat and lasts a few seconds (if it's what you're experiencing)

IveSeenThings · 20/07/2020 15:27

I've had this - just like a baby bubbling around in there... but 100% not pg. I think it's a trapped nerve inside somewhere, maybe the outside of my womb or something. It's very disconcerting.

TwoleftUggs · 20/07/2020 16:24

I get this too. I assumed it was the same sort of thing as when your eyelid or lip twitches but on a bigger muscle or something.

VeganVeal · 20/07/2020 17:22

Forgotten love eggs/beads?

ifigoup · 20/07/2020 17:24

I’ve had this occasionally, the last time after a miscarriage when my body wasn’t quite back to normal yet. In my mind it’s definitely a gynaecological thing, but for me it’s always resolved itself without my doing anything about it.

Pesimistic · 20/07/2020 22:07

Might be a bit out but could be a sign of MS if its tingly

aceofspades987 · 21/07/2020 00:14

Mine actually was a very early sign of MS.

FizzyPink · 21/07/2020 00:37

I have this when I go onto a low carb diet, I think it’s wind from all the extra green vegetables I’m eating. It genuinely does feel like a baby moving though and I’ve definitely had to check with a test before
