AIBU to wonder this about bifolding doors

We have French doors going from our kitchen to garden with 2 steps down, but I would love to knock the whole back wall out and have big bifolding doors and have decked or paved area the same height. However, I worry about rats (we're in an inner city) and mice and general creepy crawlies coming in. I feel as tho those 2 steps offer protection! AIBU to wonder this?

Jesus. Have you never seen a mouse or rat running around?? Your two steps are. NOTHING to them. It'll make zero difference.

I LOVE bifold doors. Ours )at our previous house) were lovely wood framed doors, I loved them & would get the same again in the right house. My friend had frameless glass, I do like them, but hers slide - all 4 panes go to either end (so not strictly bifold doors obviously!!)

Bi folds are beautiful - go for it!!

We've got kitchen French doors and bifolds in our snug - the bI folds are often fully open, no issues with wildlife (bar the cats but they're being naughty because they're banned from that part of the house 🤨)
Honestly, I love my bifolds 🥰 they're corner with a hanging ceiling so really gives a feeling of being outside when you're in the snug ... or actually it's currently my office and home school room lol 😆

There'd be no danger of anything coming in or out if I had bifolds, I can't work them 😂

Thank you all for your replies. Am glad to have been voted U as I think they are lush and would love them, but glad that I'm not being a total kill joy as they do seem to bring problems with them! We had a rat in our last house from leaving the kitchen door open late into the night one summer. Never want to go through that again! Flying bugs don't bother me so much. Might look into bifold windows!

You do realise that rats and bugs can climb up stairs right?

Rats can jump, too! I watched a ratty bastard jumping up at my dustbin this morning, the cheeky sod was trying to knock the lid off.
