To be utterly sick of having a hairy bathroom

Hairnotfair · 18/07/2020 19:08

DH and DS are half man half bear. DD has waist length hair and I also have hair.

I am utterly sick of our white tiled bath room floor being a sea of hair, the sink and even the toilet for God’s sake.

You get a dry cloth and all it does is move it about, a damp cloth and you have wet hairs stuck to everything. And it’s a nightmare to remove.

It feels a bit urgh to hoover a bathroom but I think I may have to start.

Anyone else shaved everyone in the family to stop this happening?

Wouldn't you just vacuum when it is not wet? Don't you have a bathmat and open a window or turn the extractor fan on when you have a shower?

BiBabbles · 18/07/2020 19:44

It is so frustrating, for me it's mainly the bathroom sink. It's like I can't go to wash my hands or brush my teeth without seeing and feeling the need to remove yet another hairball or strings of hair from the sink. I haven't figured out how to solve that either.

torquewench · 18/07/2020 19:57

My exH used to blame me for this until I pointed out that nowhere on my body was there any hair matching that length or colour, but funnily enough it matched his exactly. There was usually more on the floor than on his head 🤣 There also used to be little clumps of his bellybutton fluff scattered around the bathroom too.

Awwwshutup · 18/07/2020 19:59

I wait until the bathroom is dry then whizz round it with a hand held hoover.
I find my own hair is worse in the bedroom after blow drying and styling, I hoover it every day and wonder how there's so much but I'm not bald!

GrumpyHoonMain · 18/07/2020 20:03

I think the issue is you don’t vacuum your bathroom before mopping.

DJattheendoftheworld · 18/07/2020 20:04

I also read this as 'sick of having a hairy bottom'. Disappointing. I feel your pain with the hairy bathroom thing though. Definitely vacuum before mopping.

PlanDeRaccordement · 18/07/2020 20:26

Just sweep the floor when it is dry.

JimLovellismyHero · 18/07/2020 20:48

I'm another bathroom hooverer. I don't do it when the tiles are wet (why would you?) but after it's been ventilated or had time to dry out then yes - why not? It's quick, it's efficient and it stops all the cloths getting hairs on them when you clean the tiles.

I only do a hoover/tile clean once a week. I have one very hairy DH (but he only uses the shower room) and then there's a few of us females too, all with quite long hair, but it's definitely 'man hair' that causes the most 'hairage' on the tiles! 'Woman hair', however, clogs up the shower traps, so they get a weekly clean out/rinse/brush out with an old toothbrush too!

But yet, the hoover is your friend. I also hoover the dust on surfaces in other rooms before I polish/dust otherwise you're just moving dust around! It's so efficient I actually hoover my surfaces once a week, but only use polish/duster once a month!

Try it - your life will be transfomed! (PS - we also have several cats!)

JimLovellismyHero · 18/07/2020 20:50

yes not yet in my 3rd paragraph above! Grin

Anyone who shaves or combs over the sink… Angry

I bought hair catchers for all of the basins/showers/bath but it seems like I'm the only person who uses them. Also the only person who realises that slow draining indicates blockages or or knows how to unblock sink drains. Hmm

That said, I have family friends whom I flatsit for most years and practically the first bit of DIY I have to perform at the outset of every stay is unblocking all of the sink drains because they all shave/comb over the sink.

That said, when my hair was long, I used to shed everywhere. DH's car had a haze of my hair over its interior.

Couchbettato · 18/07/2020 21:16

Why is your bathroom always wet?

There are 3 of us in our house and it's definitely dry most of the time. I find time to hoover it.

cuntryclub · 18/07/2020 21:54

Just seems weird to take a hoover into a wet room I guess.

An actual wet room? Or a room that is wet?

Either way, it shouldn't be wet. We don't have an extractor fan so we open the window to air the room after a shower. The floor is not ever wet, with the exception of a small piece under the bath mat occasionally.

Animal hair vacuum When dry. And wet cleaning wipes for anything left.

CarolVordermansArse · 18/07/2020 22:32

I use a damp sponge, not wet, just damp, it picks up hair and dust and allsorts. Also use it on skirting boards and edges of carpets to get to the bits where the vac doesn't suck.

BlueJava · 18/07/2020 22:32

I just put the auto vac (roomba) in when it needs it and let it do its thing!

Cattiwampus · 18/07/2020 22:38

It helps to have a rota for cleaning the bathroom. In my case, I do it 1:4 times, it makes the other 3 more aware of tidying as they go.

LynnThese4reSEXPEOPLE · 19/07/2020 10:52

My husband sheds. I bought one of those hairdresser's brushes for when the bathroom is wet, vacuum when dry.

2155User · 19/07/2020 10:55

I always hoover the bathrooms Hmm

whiplashy · 19/07/2020 11:11

Why is your bathroom permanently wet?

Mmmmdanone · 19/07/2020 11:17

I have this issue too and if I don't have the hoover handy I use a window squeegee to swipe around it and gather all the hair up like that. I have a small bathroom though so doesn't take long.

thebees · 19/07/2020 11:22

I hoover the bathroom, seems normal to me.

RedOasis · 19/07/2020 11:30

Hoover the hair THEN moo. That’s what I do. No point mopping with a dirty hairy mop. And I totally sympathise with the hair issue. If I find one more hair in this house I’m going to explode in a rage cos I’m the only one who ever notices or cleans it up! Angry

Hairnotfair · 19/07/2020 18:45

I DO sweep before mopping / wiping but there’s still bloody hair stuck on things! Nothing we can do about it ladies but I’m somewhat pleased that I’m not the only one enraged by it!

Hoover then moo Grin. From hair induced insanity?!

....then mop?
