To ask if it's possible to have my nose fixed through the NHS?

My nose was broken by my ex partner some years ago but he wouldn't let me go to the hospital at the time so I wasn't able to have it reset. The result is my nose is very crooked and feels blocked 24-7.

It was big anyway which I've always been insecure about but was happy to live with, but now it's very bent and it looks 10x worse. I hate the way I look and forbid photos. I avoid looking in the mirror and feel uncomfortable when people look at me.

WIBU to speak to my GP after coronavirus has died down with a view to requesting surgery? I'm a single parent and could never afford rhinoplasty privately but I'm also reluctant to ask because I know there are people needing much more important procedures.

I'm not expecting a miracle nose job, I just want it straight again.

Mine is bent to the point I can't breathe out of the left nostril when lying down and they're fixing it for me! Hopefully you can get yours done too.

It's highly unlikely they will make it smaller (as in a cosmetic nose job)

But they will do surgery to correct the medical stuff like breathing and the likelihood is that they will straighten it because that is part of the breathing issues.

I have a similar history to you, multiple breaks from abuse that were not allowed hospital treatment.

I am currently three years into the process (long long nhs waiting times!)

My next appointment should be putting me on the surgery waiting list.

The first doctor was quite dismissive (and a little rude) during the first appointment, Maybe they get a lot of people wanting a free nose jobs?

when I explained that I actually love my big nose, it goes with my other big features but I just want to be able to breath and wear my glasses without a headache. It would be great if it could be straightened out after being broken so much but really breathing and glasses were my priority!
I have a severely deviated septum in two places so an s shaped septum and the top part of the bone has never healed correctly so it needs sorted.

I had two appointments with them then they passed me to the consultant Who has said it's quite a big op, due to the damage. It will be open so the recovery will take longer apparently. But in his opinion surgery is the only option to give any real functionality back.
I had to have a psychological assessment (passed it ok) and medical photography.

Waiting on my third appointment with him (covid meant it got cancelled in April after a year waiting for it!)

then I think the next step will be the surgery.

Hopefully then I will be able to breath and sleep again!
