You have to tell me I did the right thing in my moment of temptation. I know we should all strive to turn towards the light, but the possibilities will forever haunt me.
It all started this afternoon with a knock on the door. When I opened the door I saw a people-carrier in our drive and a guy on my doorstep leaning on a washing machine. The washing machine wasn’t wrapped and I think it was second-hand.
The guy looks at me and says "Hello mate, got your washing machine here."
Except I wasn’t expecting a washing machine.
But there it was, my moment of temptation! Time went very slow as I saw the possibilities unfold. I could accept the delivery, sell a second-hand washing machine on the black market and buy a ticket on the night train to Marrakech and spend the rest of life lazing on a beach sipping Piña Colada (Can you take the train to Marrakech? Does Marrakech even have a beach? Details, just details.)
I felt the tension between the light and the dark, the right and the wrong before I said he'd got the wrong address and he went away, but that moment will forever be the path I never took
(Also, he'd got the wrong postcode in his sat-nav)
