I don’t want to go back to the office

Certainly not most days. I’m enjoying the improved work/ life balance and I can do my job perfectly well at home. Meetings, research, reports, emails. The lot.

I’m angry at the thought of being forced back on to that horrible commute for no reason other than cannon fodder for the city centre economy. Just no.

Our office has gone from 150 to 5 at present. In September it will go up to approx 30. Our owner is even letting the top floor of the office to another company come January.
We will never all be back again.

I hated wfh. I feel like my work really invaded my personal space and I could never escape it. I enjoy my job but just not at home.

Yanbu, I think if you've proven you can wfh and would like to continue you should be allowed too.
As previous posters have said its horse for courses as some much prefer the sociability of the office whilst others gain a much better work life balance wfh.
I work for a local authority they are now actively encouraging people to wfh as a way of saving costs and are looking to sell the office site and provide a much smaller hub office for staff who cannot wfh.
But I do feel for the person who runs our canteen , the caretakers and the cleaners who depend on the office being fully open.
Ive got mixed feelings , I enjoyed wfh at first but I don't actually have room for a dedicated work space so am currently working in my bedroom using my dressing table as a desk, which long term isnt ideal, but saves me an hour a day commute and its easier to run the house, put washing on etc. But I do miss not being able to bounce ideas off colleagues ,ask a quick question and just the general chit chat.

@Runnerduck34 a friend who has been working from home since March said to me yesterday 'I don't know wether I'm working from home or living at work'.

This thread makes me wonder what the response from a similar group of men might be........ I expect they would like to reduce commuting, but not spend more time with the children, or doing housework...... maybe I know all the wrong types of men?
