To think very should have the decency to explain.

Just for background. I occasionally put something a buy now pay it gradually. I only do this if it's interest free. I also only do this if I can pay it back way before it's due.

Last year I needed a safer TV stand as my other was too low and I could see my son ending up in a&e if he hit his head on it. So I ordered a decent TV stand for £160. Then my pushchair broke a few months later and I added a pushchair to it that cost £150. I had a year on each item. I paid it all off two months early. All done. Zero balance on my balance. Then I noticed very randomly added £70 onto it. I rang them up. Explained everything. Sent proof of all the money totalling the total. It was a nightmare as it was a call center in another country and I really don't think she understood. I called several times over a few days. They kept saying to me I had paid my balance of in the wrong way. I hadn't clicked pay off the buy it now pay later. I kept arguing it. The buy it now pay later went down to £0. Then I said so where has this £70 gone that I supposedly hadn't paid off. They couldn't really answer it.

My partner rang and tried to argue it. Nothing. They threatened the balance would continue to go up if we didn't pay. So my partner paid it and said to them that we won't be using them again. He told them it was no way to treat customers that had spent alot of money over the years. They didn't care about loosing us obviously. Why would they?

Anyhow months have passed. To my shock a cheque for the money same through the post today. They've given us it back. No apology. No explanation. But clearly they have found months later we had paid.

Am I unreasonable to think they should have attached an apology and a letter to explain why they got it wrong. Not just sent a silent cheque?

My son's pushchair was £150 so we pretty much paid for half of it again due the their mistakes. At the time we had to do a smaller food shop because we were shot skint.

Has this happened to anyone else. Just so cross they put us through that last year. I was upset at the time. I have always been so sensible.

Just don’t use them again.

Melonslicexx · 17/07/2020 13:11

We won't be doing. I just can't believe they make mistakes like that and then realise months later and don't even contact the customer to make it right.

It was probably an automated reconciliation which generated the cheque and sent it out.

You've got your money back, I wouldn't be fretting about not getting a grovelling apology with it.

I also use buy now pay later on there and it does clearly state that you must click on that option when making payments, even if you owe on no other items.
They do seem to be very "computer says no" at the call centre so
I agree that their call center is a pain and that sometimes the staff there don't fully understand the issue.

Tbh I would just be happy that I got my money back and next time check that I'm paying correctly as per the process on their website.

Melonslicexx · 17/07/2020 13:15

Yeah it was nice to get it back.

Thanks all. Not a good customer service at all.

I useVery and have had great experiences with them in every way, except their bloody call centres. I have no issue with using centres abroad but every single time I have called them I've somehow managed to get someone who can't actually speak or understand English! They can read from a script but as to understanding my issues? Not a chance. Once I had somehow added 999 of something to my basket (fingerslip scroll pretty website glitch I have no idea) and could only remove them one by one and I couldn't get the person on the line to understand what had happened. I ended up doing it manually over the day, taking a few minutes when I got a chance to remove a few more.

Second time I called I needed to change my name from Miss Smith to Mrs Jones after getting married. I ended up with an account of Mrs Smith. I called again to correct it and now am living as Miss Jones. Fuck it. Close enough. I wouldn't mind if I had a strong accent that's hard to understand but I always do my posh English phone voice on calls like that.

You likely didn't get an apology because they probably have no idea that you called about the error as they won't have had a clue what you rang about. It'll be accounts who found your extra cash in your accounts!

Pretty? or website glitch

2bazookas · 17/07/2020 13:30

why on earth don't you buy stuff secondhand for a few pound in cash?

Melonslicexx · 17/07/2020 13:38

Because I don't want to!

@HouchinBawbags

Omg yes this is the problem. They can't solve anything because they don't understand!
